The ego is a cheap and inexpensive way to start vaping.

My mom and I started vaping at the same time. I started with a $30 ego that I'm still using. Never used carts in my life just cartomizers. My mom went the 'want to look like a cig' route. Started with a Smoke Tip, then a V4L KR808, then a Riva Ego.
We ended up at the same place but it took her about $200 more to get there.

She still uses the KR808 from time to time because she has money invested in all the stuff she bought. I've gotten her a Bloog battery, bloog cartos, volt battery and volt cartos and they're all pretty much the same. You'll get a decent vape. To me you get a better vape with a 510 (battery life sucks though) and the best vape with an ego.

She's in her 70's with health & vision issues so if it's not too complex for her, I doubt if it's complex for anyone. She was able to adapt to something that doesn't resemble a cig the first time she vaped an ego.

It was never an issue for me. I never thought there was anything particularly attractive about smoking that I'd want to emulate that with a pv, I just wanted to find something that would get me off cigarettes.
Oh yeah, if I'd found ECF before I got my first pv it would have been an ego. It's fat cigar size for the 650mAh and a ton of options for it. It's barely longer than the volt (with no cart on they are the same length http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/leftfeild/capoff.jpg ).

It's mainly because the op asked for something cig size that feels like a cig that the volt would be the best performing cig replica. It's a cheap starting kit to test the water out with that's not a throw away. I still use mine because hands free vaping is a neccessity sometimes and I can't do that with any of my other pvs. They might stick to it, they might want to move up in battery life.

For what they asked for, 510 or volt/bloog/halo. Just to me a volt style is better than a 510 for ease of use and power for size.

I do think the KR808 volt batteries seem to last longer than the 510.

My nephew wanted something small and I got him a pretty nice 510 with a PCC from Ivape for $35.99. It's nice but batteries aren't great. He might have liked the Volt better. I'm not sure he even uses it. He wanted it for a trip.

The only drawback with the KR808 when you're new is no great way to test juices unless you get some kind of adaptor. The atty/carts come in handy for that.

Hey swedish, where can I get some good carto's anyhow for a decent price since ou seem to know all about em...I reallly reallly really can't stand the tank...
Electronic Cigarette - Cartomizers - Boge Cartomizers Only place I know for USA vendors :( 20% off with 'october20' though.

2.0ohm will be hot, 2.5ohm is what volt cartos are, really nice warmth and 3.0ohm is pretty pitiful on an ego.

What I use (because I have a volt) is buy 808 cartomisers and use the 510 - 901 adapter from there to use my 808 cartomisers on both my volt and ego.

LF also have smoktech dual coil cartomisers.

Sorry, I have noooooo idea about where to get cheaper/other cartomisers in the USA XD I probabaly shouldn't have answered lol

I'm literally using just their kr808D-1 cartomisers from LF because they're cheap as chips and the filling isn't too tight: http://www.liberty-flights.com/product.asp?id=25 I didn't like the boge ones but everyone else raves for them. Guess it's cos I use vg that it's so painful to fill boges for me.

Just a IMHO answer here, but I've been doing this for about 3 yrs now and though I slipped back to analogs here and there I've enjoyed the simplicity of 808's. I've read tons of the threads on here and can't grasp the idea of spending more and more money on some of the items people get into. I've seen vendors with starter kits as low as $40 and then you can get prefilled carto's to start to see what kind of juice she's going to like and go from there. No adapters needed, no mod's needed, no atty's to clean.
If she wants to try refilling later then so be it.

Thkank you to evetryone who has replied to this thred. I have a few links to kits now that I am going to show her, BLOOG, HALO, SMOKELESS IMAGE, and Ivape. And I did tell her about this site and i think she checked it out but i think it was prob a bit too much info all at once. Ill show her the kits and let her check out some reviews and decide for herself. Thank you all once again and if anyone comes up with anything else let me know and i will pass it along

Just to add more confusion: I'll suggest an IGO 650 mah from D and B Gold - Home The kits come with 2 batteries, charger and a box of 4 cartomizers for $40.00 + shipping. Today through Saturday morning he has a sale if you buy a kit he'll add in another box of cartomizers. He's very helpful, ships fast, and communicates well. He doesn't sell juice. You can also buy extra batteries. Also, you get free a drip tip and cone free with the purchase. The Black is a very nice looking e-cigg. Just my opinion!!

901 kit all the way.

It's a great kit, comparable to a 510 in size and performance, but it has several advantages that made me pick that unit when I was looking for something good to replace my cheapo Chinese m401 knock offs.

1 - It is compatible with 808 cartos. Slightly hard draw, but nothing a cheap adapter can't fix.

2 - Even if you don't like/want 808 cartos, it is also compatible with the 380 MaH 808 XL batteries and PCC for a longer lasting analog-like shaped PV. Also, if you only want to upgrade to the 808 batteries, you do NOT need a thread adapter. They just work as is.

3 - Compatible with 510 cartridges. Far as I know, this includes tank carts. (except the ones for the 510-T)

4 - Easy to upgrade to the Riva 901 just by purchasing the battery, cone and fast MaH charger. It's only a small investment to upgrade into an Ego type PV.

5 - Compatible with many box mods.

So, all in all, with such a versatile unit you get the best of all worlds: 808, 510, Ego and 901.

PS: I recently got my 901 kit from Good Prophets. One atty had some strange taste, but the other is vaping like a champ and the atty is by far outperforming my stepson's 510 in flavor and vapor. Getting slightly less throat hit on the 901, but I see it as a very minor trade off. The 808 CE2's are working amazingly.

I would strongly suggest that she start off with the Halo G6. If she is confused by what she is reading here then having good instructions will be VERY important for her, and the G6 at halocigs.com has the best instructions hands down. It's a next gen KR808-D1, doesn't leak, is very well made, works well and is really easy to use and similar in size to an analog. I have this kit and a 510T and I think the G6 is a much better choice for a newbie.

I haven't found that to be the case at all with the G6. The blank cartos have rubber drip tip mouthpieces and are extremely easy to fill. I have also washed them out by running them under hot water, soaking them in a bowl of hot water, blowing them out and letting them dry out. These cartos don't burn easily at all and they are pretty rugged. If she bought the G6 kit, a pkg of blank cartos and the sampler pack from Halo she'd be all set for awhile. I got my kit on the 23rd of last month and am still using my original 7 cartos.

I don't know anything about the 501. I vape 808d-I and I have the shorty, regular size and the xl. I like my shorty because it feels more like a analog between my fingers, so I use it when I go out. Havne't found a need for the charger case because I use a passthru in my car and I can charge my battery in the car to if necessary. Actually I have 3 passthru's, one on my computer, one next to my bed and one in the car. Saves on charging battery's.

The 510 is the same size as a KR808. Both a minis. Different battery connectkion.
