I beg your pardon, Martha - I though you were using the chuck with 2 smaller batteries - my apologies.

Yes, you will absolutely see a difference between 3v and 3.7v batteries. With the 3.7v battery, you will see performance similar to the OEM battery for your 510, but it will last longer.

3v is insufficient to 'fire up' the atomizer.

But could the CR123A with 3 volts be different from the CR123A with 3.7 volts. Could that be causing it not to work as good as it should. I just expected a lot more than I am getting. I am concerned after spending 80.00 for the chuck and another 32.00 for batteries and charger. I would just like it to perform better.

Now I'm confused. Am I reading this right, Martha? You have 2 batteries with the same number that are different voltages? I mean, the labels read exactly the same; "CR123A" followed by different voltages? If that is truly the case, the battery manufacturers/engineers need a solid smack across the head.

Wow, do people even read the questions before they post? If we get some people reading this looking for advice, they are going to go away even more confused.

OK--
Martha is using a little chuck that takes ONE cr123 battery!
The battery she is using is 3 volts.
The batteries come in either 3 volts or 3.7 volts.
She wants to know if 3 volts makes a difference from 3.7 volts. The answer is yes.
3.7 volts will make you happy and you will like your Chuck much more!! ( regardless of what atomizer is hooked to it)

It will preform a @#$%ton better! A 3.7v batt is 4.2v when fully charged! A 3v batt will hiut like a 3.7v when its abt dead.

Get the 3.7v batts, try to find 1000mah or get the yellow ultrafire 188350 batts 3.7v 1200mah!
They will last the longest and YOU WILL LOVE UR CHUCK!!! If u dont lemme know, hehe I may be willing to take it off ur hands ;)

Oh yeah, you cant find these local, or at least I cant-I order mine from either batteryjunction.com or dealextreme.com

By the nature of the chem all these batteries are about 3.7 volts. The voltage can't change unless you go to a completely different kind of battery and no one has found true 3 volt. If we had one we wouldn't need the resistors. Another type is 1.5 volts but 4 of them is so close to 2 3.7's no one is working with the extra size.
COLOR me wrong, the 3.0 volt IS lower than the 3.7, don't know how they do it but there is a REAL difference not just labeling, sorry

i just received my little chuck. I ordered batteries and charger from Order/Bulk almost 3 weeks ago but have not received them. The warehouse where my husband gets his knives also carry streamlight batteries and I picked up a couple of them. They are CR123A 3V. My litte chuck does not seem to be producing much vapor and hardlly any throat hit. I noted that the battery I ordered is a CR123A 3.7v.

Is there a difference between CR123A 3V verses CR123A 3.7v. Could this be the reason I having so much trouble with the little Chuck.I even changed out atomizers 3 times and used different flavor to see if this could help.

I'm I expecting too much from the Little Chuck. My regular 510 is producing much more vapor and throat hit.

There is a world of difference between 3.0 volts and 3.7 volts. My guess is once you get the 3.7 volt batteries, it will blow your regular 510 totally away to where you won't even pick it up again except in battery emergencies. 8-o
