I don't understand why the chuck is 5" long if the batteries are only 2.66" long?

You'd understand if you saw it. The battery part is in a sealed chamber in the bottom of the unit. The switch housing and wiring are in the top part. The atty connector is recessed into the unit to avoid being damaged if you drop it.

True, but some of the other 6v mods are a decent amount shorter. Of course, one has to fit the switch and atty connection in there somehow. Looks like each manufacturer goes about it a little differently.

I was under the impression that 2 cr123a's would be just about the same size as a single 18650 battery. I'd think they'd fit no problem. I think the rechargeables are the same size as the one time use ones.

Yes
2.66" inches long (both 3.7v single, and 2x3volt)

The 3.7 volt battery has a larger diameter though than the two CR123A batts.

The 510 and 801 atty's both do very well at higher voltages.
The puff has to be short though, because they will instantly glow orange inside.

I can't use 3.7 volts, I find i have to draw for such a long time, and i get little vapor compared to higher voltages.

I prefer a 2 second puff full of vapor and flavor.

To change voltages on a pass through this is what i use.

The kensington is a 5 volt power pack.
The Tekkeon is variable all the way from 3~14v.
Anywhere from 5~9 volts is acceptable, after that the liquid burns too quickly.

The non-rechargeable CR123A batteries that I am using temporarily aren't a very snug fit in the CHUCK as far as their diameter goes, but the spring is holding them in pretty tightly. The batteries don't move when you shake the unit. So it seems to me that if you were to use the rechargeable CR123A's, they would probably work just as well as the recommended CR2's, and you wouldn't need an adapter. I'd still strongly recommend using protected batteries, however. Better to be safe than sorry.

Of course, not having tried them yet, I couldn't vouch for how long the batteries could work before needing to be recharged.

I get 12 hours of constant vaping of off my 2 rcr123's stuffed into the chuck.

I'd probably get more. Five good hits at 6v using 12mg juice makes my head spin, lol. I have to put it down for a while before using it again. Chain vaping this thing is out of the question. :D

At 6v my Chuck has fried 3 atomizers. I have the cr2 adapter and have used cr123a's. I try not to hit the button for too long and drip the atty but, I think I am going to stick with a 3.7v. I am tired of blowing attys. Oh, the attys I have fried were all 901's.

Keep them wet
drip more often than you think.
When atty gets hot rotate it.

Max 3 second button time.
you won't fry them anymore

I haven't fried an atty at 6v yet. Like the others said, keep the atty wet at all times, but not so much that it gets flooded. Never drip on a hot atty. I usually take two second puffs, and give it a little bit to cool down in between.

I finally got my 18650 batteries in, and they're still charging (they take a long time). Once they're done, I'll add to my review.

Nice review! This was actually what led me to get some 123's.

The 18650's are nice. You get to take those good long hits that you love and the clouds are pretty.

That to me was one of my favorite things when smoking, watching big plumes of smoke play around in a sunbeam or ray of light. I was able to do that to some extent with the stock 510 but now I get a good portion more with the Chuck. I ran this at 6v for about an hour today and while it did "knock my socks off" for a hit... it just didn't feel as good or smooth as the 18650's.

What I don't understand is that I have to keep the atty wet as if I were vaping at 5volts or more. This guy can go through 2-3 drops on an atty in no time.

This was actually a fun thread for me to read. I'm a total newb to vaping, just got my first 510 this week. When I read about high voltage vaping, using super high mg nic juice, etc., I think, "Wow, I've never known any cigarette smokers who went on and on about their analogs...." This truly is something more than just an alternative to tobacco.... I'm kind of getting a feeling there's almost a spiritual deal happening between the vaper and PV....

I'll just sit on the sidelines and get the vicarious thrill of watching others take vaping to those levels. I'm a vaping hobbyist and probably will stay that way, but that doesn't mean I can't admire true artists at work! (That Chuck is something else, I admit. Reminds me of the custom cue sticks a friend of mine keeps buying.)
