Looks like a cigarette, feels like smoking a cigarette. Now this is just a personal opinion but.... I quit smoking. Why would I want to be reminded of smoking. I vape now, I know that I am inhaling a nicotine-laced vapor because, like caffeine, I'm addicted to it. I'm glad my NDD (nicotine delivery device) doesn't look like a cigarette. I quit drinking a long time ago as well, that's why I don't drink my coffee out of a beer mug or a rocks glass.

I am not deriding cig-a-likes or anybody who uses them. To each his own, live and let live, etc. etc. I just know that for me, remaining in that zone of familiarity can be a dangerous thing, plus spinning my own coil, choosing which flavor to vape or filling a High Desert Vapes hand spun glass tank is actually very satisfying.

Maybe because smokers don't want to quit smoking. They quit usually due to health reasons, otherwise enjoy the act of smoking.

So why wouldn't some of them seek a close ecig alternative to the habit they enjoyed for years/decades?

Cigarettes are the perfect device. small, light and compact and that is exactly what most smokers want in an ecig. Why would people want to use a big heavy weird looking device over a compact device? That doesnt make any sense. (presuming performance of both devices are the same/similar)

The more ecigs look like cigarettes or are at least the same size/weight the more smokers lives we can save.

That's the most important thing IMO.

Some people just want to blend in and vape away without getting strange looks or being approached by too many people.

Smoking cigarettes was never a hobby or religion, it was just a natural part of our lives, some vapers wish to keep their vaping like that too.

I found that I very much needed the psychological comfort of the familiarity of a cig-alike when I first started vaping. I was able to painlessly quit my 2+ pack a day habit from my first vape and I think the cig-alike form factor played a huge role in easing my way into vaping. I also still enjoy the familiar form factor and have been quite surprised at how often I reach for one of my hassle-free eRolls in favor of my more powerful gear.

Yup.
I know for me it was a process.
When I first started, it HAD to look like a cigarette.
So, yes...psychological.
I remember discovering this forum, when I first started, and seeing what others were using....
Big batteries and boxes and so on...
And me...shaking my head and thinking 'who in their right mind would smoke (yes, I said smoke back then, too) on something that big... and roll my eyes. :glare:
Now that time has gone by, I sit here with my big battery and read these forums and say 'who in their right mind would want to vape (yes, I say vape now) on something that looks like a cigarette...and roll my eyes. :p
Then, I catch myself .....

I'm one of those few who started on an eGo-T battery, upgraded to a Kgo VV, then a Lavatube, a Twist, and now I have a Vamo, an eGo-V v2 Mega, and a Provari on the way (should be here today, if I'm lucky). But at one point during all of this, I started holding my batteries like a cigarette. My hands literally wanted something like a cigarette to hold.

So I got myself a Volt. Those little guys are chicken hawks. Of course, the battery life is the same as any other cigalike, but it's locked at 3.7 volts (as far as I know) and it hits like a champ. Mad throat hit and vapor production (this also has a lot to do with the juice I put in the blank replacement cartos). Also, it's the easiest to use cigalike I've ever found. Just screw the battery to the cartomizer and vape. Also, with a PCC and at least two batteries, you're guaranteed a full night's out worth of vaping.

OP, I completely understand your logic. But some vapers, myself included, wanted a cigalike in their arsenal for various reasons. These are mine! :)

This is my thinking, too! Although maybe not so much the last bit with rolling my eyes. I figure to each his/her own, and I do understand how someone just getting into the vaping thing would be more comfortable with a cigalike. Also...there's a lot to be said for using them even after "graduating" to the bigger-better mods like Rocket was saying.

I still use the little 510s from Green Smart Living when I'm going out somewhere and don't want to talk about vaping. People see you with cig-a-like these days and smile knowingly. They are cheap and old though, and probably won't hold a charge much longer. I'd like to get a couple manuals with a PCC to replace them.

I care less about looks and more about ability, my first devise was a Mall kiosk smokefree.com pos...it did open my eyes to the potential tho...but after a mere 3 weeks it was useless and the replacement prefilled cartos were 20 bucks...the batt died after 30 minutes ect ect..

So for me cigalikes just remind me of the loss i incurred and the 150 bucks i threw away and any negative things i may say about them are to protect the innocent individual being lured into this experience by adds or slick talking kiosk sales people..

if i could spend that 150 again it would be on a few twists and a couple of Vivi Novas and a box of Boge xl lr cartos...and a few bottles of juice and still have enough for a sushi roll or 2.

I gues what I am saying is ...we all got to get here our own way.. if they made a 3.7v 650 mah that lookes like a cig i would have no problem with it...might even buy one for stealth vaping in public....but as it is ..they dont and IMHO there all crap

I used them (the logic disposable and a couple of other ones) during my first few weeks of vaping, just to get used to it, was easier to hold, what I was used to, and it worked. I always keep a couple around (1 in the briefcase, 1 in the car) in case of emergency or to give out to someone.

There is a time and place for everything, even a cig-a-like.

For stealth vaping, other than my Volts, I love my eGo Mini.

400 mAh. Perfect for palming at work.

That right there is my next purchase!
I've been wanting a mini....!
And today, I'm using my Volt X2. I've got a couple of 78mm's as well.
I decided to give my Twist a rest.
Plus, my Volt was getting lonely....:)

Just got the ERoll two days ago and its regulated 3.7V and with the case it last a few hours. If you still need a cig-a-like I'd look into the ERoll. Just saying :)

The problems I had with smoking were the smell, on me, my clothes, hair, furniture, car, etc. Also the health effects, both possible future long term effects, as well as current effects (difficulty breathing, overall more sluggish slow feeling)

There's also some nice things like not burning your clothes or furniture with a cherry. Not having ashes all over everything. The list goes on.

My problems with smoking did not include the size of the cig, the shape of the cig, the weight of the cig, or the tactile feeling of a cigarette in my hand. Those are the things I love. And those just happen to be the things that I can retain by using a cigalike.

When I'm sober I generally use my APVs but when out drinking, I really miss (and want) something that is close to a cigarette. Cigalikes fill this roll.

If I'm doing something that requires the use of both my hands, a small cigalike is also easier to keep secured between by teeth or lips, and I can puff on it as I wish. With my large APVs I need at least one free hand to vape. Playing video games, typing on the computer, working on cars, there's quite a few things I do where a cigalike is eaiser to vape on than a big PV.
