Apparently a UK supermarket chain is placing all cigarettes under the counter in one of its stores ahead of a rule that all must do so in April... However...

... there's no reason e-cigs should also be there! Perhaps people here might show their love for E-cigs in the comments, and so hopefully encourage that they be properly stocked (as ciggies are now) and kept on display such that more people become aware of them? Tesco already see disposable 10Motives e-cigs.... perhaps this could show them a reason to do more.

They are pushing this in the USA as well. All tobacco products must now be under the counter. This is stupid. You still have to have advertising of the product in the store. Everyone is going to know they are there is they cannot see them. We just have to keep educating the masses of the benefits of e-cigs and hope they will see the light.

I actually question this at my local supermarket and the manager showedf me the letter they had received from their head office, it didn't stipulate cigarettes and smoking parafanalia (sp) but nic products and smoking items, would also explain why nic gum and patches were also now out of view.
Personally I would rather see the shelves that once housed analogues full of nrt items and pv's, hiding them away makes the general public think they are bad and to be frowned upon.
Hard enough that physical shops here in the UK are a rarety but it should be promoted not hidden away.
FYI - The manager shared my view point too, not a vaper herself but a very knowledgeable lady

I have noticed something odd lately and wonder if it is just me. Used to in all the grocery store I went in the cigarettes were behind the service counter in a really large and fully stocked case. Lately I notice all over the place that the stock levels are way down, and the shelves are pretty bare. Is it a function of the cost? making the stock too expensive to keep full as sales are off? I am not sure that I would say e cigs are driving demand down, certainly it helps of course. But with all of the new bans on smoking all over the place there might just be a impact as people smoke less? Just noticed it the other day and thought, wow they don't have the cigarettes stocked very well, and it was at several different stores.
