vaping isn't welding though. Not everyone comes from that kind of background. I work in artist/production management/development & sound design. So to me a fuse is a form of protection for an amplifier to stop it from blowing or shorting.
So the terminology should be fused Clapton IMO, as that's what that type of wrap is most commonly referred to as.

A dual core Clapton isn't a fuse and doesn't work that way.
That's even more incorrect.

Don't parrot incorrect terminology.

Just look at how many vapers have no clue what a hybrid is.
They think they are pinless mods like the SMPL which isn't a hybrid at all.
Hybrids are probably the safest of mechanicals because you can't put the "wrong" atty on one.

Using incorrect terminology in this industry can actually be dangerous.

so who decides what the correct terminology is then? lol who's to say which of you is right. whats your source for your justification. whatever the standardized term is then that is the term. if there's multiple terms going around then i guess the term most commonly and widely used is the proper terminology. Im not debating anyone but im very curious about this now. especially at the mention of the term "hybrid" because recently iv been lead to believe it means a pinless mod yes. so if not then what is it and again, who's to say that's the correct terminology?. my interests have been peaked :p

From a physics point of view captions only work better than a normal coil if you are using thick wire. 26-22g will work better wrapped in very small wire because it allows for better venting of the vapor out from under the wire. If you are using 32-28g you will see a loss in vapor production because of the added mass.

Clapton wire does not act as a wick for liquid.

Your first comment is just a little skewed but your last comment is just plain wrong ...................

It may have some capillary action while cool but once hot the thermodynamics of boiling liquids will push any liquid to the exterior of the wrap.

Claptons work because of increased vapor venting. Not increased surface area, wicking or any other internet dogma....

As far as "fused" how about a dictionary?
fusion of metal

Hybrids were around long before pinless mods.
The first pinless mods were "hybrid look". Some uneducated vapers misheard the description, and now call these pinless mods hybrids.

This is a hybrid.
image.jpg

There is no 510 threads or top cap.
It has a dedicated atomizer that attaches to the body.

There are a ton of threads here on ECF that explain the difference.
Hybrids are very safe. You don't see explosion pics of true hybrids ever.

Educate yourself and vape safe.

"some capillary action" seriously, that was "one" coil soaking up 4 drops, how about dual coils ...........

Local vape shop started selling me and a my co-worker 1.8 ohm BVC Clapton coils instead of my regular 1.8ohm BVC coils for the Nautilus mini.

We both find the TH too harsh and that they 'vape weirdly' the draw is not the same and is too hot.

I much prefer the regular ones.

I like the Kanger VOCC and new SSOCC .5ohm coils so much, I will never try the Clapton ones as the thought of ruining my sub ohm experience the way trying the Clapton Nautilus coils ruined my Nautilus experience - makes me filled with utter despair. I'll never go there.

A hybrid mod is a mod with no 510, atty directly machined onto the body in some way. Like the Ruby mod by Kennedy. It's a Kennedy 24 deck, however the deck is machined into the mod. There's also a direct to battery which has a 510, but is not a hybrid, just a different type of mechanical. And on the subject of Fused Claptons, Squidoode Pre Made Coils the first & second options on the drop down.

Its the correct terminology. Vaping is not welding. 2 strand round wire core Clapton coils are referred to as fused Claptons. I'm sorry but I don't think the majority of us referring to 2 core round wire Claptons as Fused Claptons aren't wrong. 15 years ago you would have been telling me that "blog" is not a real word, yet in whatever year it was entered officially into the dictionary.

Educate yourself.
Look up the term.

"Blog" is a contracted term for "Web Log", which is the correct definition.

Again, use a dictionary.

Hey man, it really seems like you're stirring things up here and trying to get people's goat at this point. I'm not going to argue because you have valid points. But I do believe you're purposefully being demeaning and it's unnecessary.

Let's all take a step back and chill

Just trying to educate the uninformed and help new vapers understand what we are discussing.
Don't fear knowledge.
It's okay to be wrong, we are all human.
Our ability to learn from our mistakes is fundamental for our species to survive.

I've already seen members here make dangerous mistakes due to incorrect terminology.
Promoting incorrect descriptions and improper terminology, dumbs us all down.

Yap, fused is fused. Welder by trade, fused means two pieces are melted together at the molecular level, to become one piece. Double wrapped claptons are not fused, just tied, or bound, together really, LOL.

Before welding I was a auto tech, and after welding I`m a watchmaker, and both languages get mutilated with equal bravado. Its a human trait, just flat out make up a word when you don`t really understand what you are doing, LOL.

Maybe you should email him, and at the very least, let him know how wrong and incorrect the name of his "one" particular coil design is , perhaps you could find some flaws with his other coil's names ..............

You do understand the design name is fused clapton right ?

So I guess if it was named a sparky coil that would be wrong since it dosent spark... Its just afreaking name. Alien coils is just a name. its not like we actually think they came from outer space. Caterpillar coils guess what, they aint made from real caterpillars either. get off your soap box.
