I've been vaping since August and I'm hooked. Just got my first DIY liquids.

I use a standard "Gorilla Vaes" battery and an aluminum Nova tank. That's what was explained would work best for my cinnamon vaping when I went and bought my first set up. I've bought several of the same since then. I'm also OCD .. so I like the chrome on all my parts.

But ... from reading here, I see mention of cartos and drip systems. I have NO idea what that is or what the difference is. I did once buy a tank that had a metal rod through the center with no wick that you filled from the bottom. It was quite messy. I don't know what it was called, I thought it was a regular set up. Regardless, I hated it.

So, what's the best for an "on the go" vaper?

Thanks.

Darla... since nobody has seen fit to answer your question, I will proffer my own thoughts. If the setup you are currently using works, just stick with it! Different strokes for different folks. I personally like a clearomizer like the Innokin iClear 30 or iClear16. I have not personally used a cartomizer, but it is a steel tube with a filler material in the center, tiny holes near the bottom to allow juice into the filler/wick, that sits in a tank of ejuice. To me, it looks a little complicated and potentially messy, but people say the flavor is better than a clearomizer like your Vivi Nova. You did mention getting some DIY stuff... I haven't ventured into the DIY world, but I would HIGHLY recommend getting a simple dripping atomizer for tasting your creations. Something like a Joyetech 510/901 Joyetech 510 Atomizer 5-Pack (2.3ohm) | DigitalCiggz.com, or if you want to spend a little more money, then the HH357 from AvidVaper - Atomizers - HH.357 Cisco Spec Hybrid Atomizers - Avid Vaper. Very quick and easy to clean and change flavors, and you get a very pure flavor from your ejuice. No wick or filler to mute the flavor. These are not good for on-the-go, but great for at home or tasting different flavors.

Hope this helps! Message me if you have any questions!

Vape on! :vapor:

BTW... a dripping atomizer like I posted the links to looks something like a cartomizer, but does NOT sit in a tank of juice! You just drip in 3-5 drops of your juice and you get 2-5 hits/vapes/toots before it starts to taste dry/burnt. Then you have to add a couple more drops and go again! That's why it is good for tasting your DIY... you don't have to fill up a whole clearo or carto tank with juice.

Thanks so much.

What I'm using does work well. But I am intrigued by what you said (and others) about the clearer, pure taste you get with a drip.

Very helpful. Thanks again.

Vaper Terminology 101:

Uses most common usage of individual phrase
Cartomizer: Usually a tube of metal construction stuffed with a polyfill that absorbs the juice. A coil runs either horizontally or vertically which heats the liquid, atomizing it.

Clearomizer: Usually a system featuring a tank to hold the juice and varying materials used as wicks (stainless steel mesh, silica, Ekowool, etc), around which a length of kanthal wire is wrapped with each end being attached to a positive and negative posts. Wire heats the wick, atomizing the liquid.

Dripper/Dripping Atomizer: Essentially a clearomizer atomizer setup without the tank. You drip onto your wick and vape.

RBA: ReBuildable Atomizer. An atomizer that can have the coil and wick replaced.

RBD: ReBuildable Dripping (Atomizer). A dripping atomizer that can, again, be rebuilt.

They're all atomizers, just in different configurations.
