Yes it is. Probably the best information you can get right away is in MistressNomads video collection. It's really good, basic info. You can find it in the Sticky Threads in the New Members section. She even gives links to other videos for cleaning your attys, carts, and foam that another member (name's not coming to me right now) has posted on You Tube.

The thread is titled "I made videos for newbies..."

Is it possible to clean your atomizer by submerging it in alcohol or something?
You'll get a lot of opinions on this, and I'll add mine to the mix...

Can the foam be removed and rinsed and then repacked?
Yes, definitely.

I used to just hold it under running tap water while squeezing it a bunch of times until the old juice was gone.
Then just put it between a paper towel and smush it a few times until no more water is left behind.

Takes about 20 seconds total.
:)

i would stay away from putting any kind of alcohols or chemical in your attys. i have a great way to clean your carts and attys.

everyone has their own way to clean thier carts, and many just rely on watching youtube for information. so i guess this will be a quick case of TV killed the radio star. but i thought i'd share with you the way i clean my cartos and atty's.

first off, boil yourself up some water in your kettle and pour into a bowl or small rock glass.

step two, pull off the cap and pull out the silicone "o" ring inside your cart. if there is still juice in your cart extract it with a syringe. find yourself a non hypo syringe, the type to administer oral medicine. or you could just remove the hypo from your existing syringe and attach the "o" ring to the end like so.

third, plug in the "o" ring into your carto or atty and draw in boiling water, then plunge back out. repeat this step for however long you desire always changing to fresh water before finishing. blow out any excess water from the threaded end and put them out onto paper towels until you believe they are dry enough for use.

hope this helps, thanks for reading. ~ChRiS

Gee.. I'm a star!

I would recommend against using tap water to clean PV related things- there are minerals in the water that get left behind and can stiffen the wick. Your method works fine with distilled water.

The advantage to alcohol is that it is an excellent solvent, it kills bacteria, and evaporates without leaving anything behind. I don't know why you would recommend against it.

I would have to agree with Cozzicon on the fast you should use Distilled water. Not only because of the minerals but also because it is non conductive. After trying just about every way to clean a atomizer i like the alcohol method the best. It is fast and effective. Although it is more expensive i have switched to using PGA to clean my atomizers. Basicly it tastes alot better when you blow the alcohol out of the atomizer. Plus it is dual purpose as a shot before hand makes cleaning a lot funner.

Problem I have with alcohol 91% is even after blowing out, resting at least 24 hrs, then"dry" burning 5-10 seconds 5 times, then puffing but not inhaling 20 times, the alcohol still tastes BAD even if I add several drops of juice . I have even tried rinsing with hot water after the alcohol cleaning to try to eliminate the taste. I mean it tastes terrible for hours in the back of my throat.
Suggestions anyone ???

I'm not sure how to respond- except to wonder if your alcohol is pure.

Or perhaps past dry burns have damaged your wick.

When the alcohol evaps.. it will leave nothing behind.

I've read til my eyes are blurry about cleaning my attys and there are way too many versions. Why don't we know which is the best? I don't wanna kill my addy. I tried the warm water and didnt dry it like one thread said because like they said, it lives in moisture and comes lubed, maybe it shouldn't dry out, huh? I didn't get an instruction book with mine. what does that say to do?

Do what works for you... be critical of what you read or see in vids.

The reasoning behind the isopropyl alcohol is the following:

1. It leeches juice very well

2. It evaporates completely

3. It sterilizes.

4. It leaves no minerals behind.

if you are soaking the atty in rubbing alcohol I would recommend you do this overnight. then use a toothbrush to scrub the ends and the tiny air holes. Then rinse with water and blow out one last time on both ends of the atty use a tissue to make sure that it is being blown dry. then Let it sit for 30 minutes to make sure its dried out, Attach to your battery and puff (do not inhale) on your e-cig a few times before using.

How about loading up an airbrush with isoprophyl alcohol and shoot it into the atty ? You can use the compressed air to speed up the drying process too.

I don't think you would want to use compressed air to speed up the process. I am not sure but depending on the psi of the air that is coming out could ruin the atty. maybe a blow drier might be better.
