Cleaning batteries

The threads on both my eGo & Echo batteries are dark. I've tried using a Q-Tip dipped in hot water and also tried with vodka ... neither worked. Is there anything that will safely clean the battery threads without ruining the battery?

Your battery threads are clean!

The water and vodka cleaned them for sure. The chrome plating is worn away and you see the tarnished metal behind it. This happens to most chrome battery connectors after a while. As long as your batteries still work, those threads are clean.
