A buddy of mine told me to and I quote "Soak the coils and wicks overnight in some coca cola, itll eat off all the gunk" Any truth to this? I went ahead and took apart a protank 3 coil and threw it in out of curiosity. The coil was gunked a long time ago so its not a huge deal if it kills it, but if it works it might be a good way to save a little extra money.

Well I know a little steal wool and some coke will clean rust off of chrome so i know it cant be good for me haha, but it couldnt be too bad considering people drink it everyday, ive read of people cleaning coils in peroxide and i can only imagine how bad that is for the lungs

Peroxide Jesus what part of that sounds like a good idea

Seen it on a youtube video, I was just like "Nothing screams safe like something that can induce vomiting when drank"

God there's some idiots on YouTube truely worst one I saw was some idiot using a pipe soaking cotton wool with liquid then lighting it on fire and smoking that truely worrying what some new vapers might watch and potentially take onboard

I wish people would understand the difference between vapor and combustion, then there would be a lot less "E CIGS ARE BAD" propaganda going around. I for one know vaping isnt bad when done right, but some people dont. I dont care that it hasnt been studied enough to be "proven safe" One day the studies will say "well its not as bad as cigarettes, but its not great for you either" And then ill say "Well, its still better then analogs for me" And pull out whatever great advancement of a mod has been manufactured in the year 2017.

Well.... yes. And probably no, but technically maybe yes, and even then with caveats. I apologize for that sentence now, but it was fun typing it.

Coca-cola has carbonic acid, phosphoric acid and smaller amounts of citric acid. They'll both do a good job of dissolving stuff given a bit of time, along with the sugars it's what slowly wears down your tooth enamel. Sugared is a bad idea as unless you can get all the residue out, the coil is going to suffer for it. But diet sodas still contain the acids, so might well do OK. White vinegar (acetic acid) can also be used, which is why people will often run a diluted mix of it through their coffee maker to help keep it flowing, especially if they have hard water.

I've never done it, but I'd be super careful with it -- it can and will eventually eat away at chromed parts and such, depending on how much acid is involved and how cheap/thin the plating is. I believe the average ph of most sodas is around 3.4ph. You can google more on both once you know you're looking for. Not really sure how cost effective it is even if it works -- as you can just buy powdered citric acid or vinegar and such. :)

I wouldn't soak one of my wicks in it, but that's just me. Soaking a bare coil in it would probably work but it's easier to just dry-burn a bare coil.
FWIW, I'd check the resistance of the coil after soaking it in Coke. The stuff will eat away at the metal in a very short time leaving you with wire that is smaller in diameter.

Way back when I used bottom coil cartos with the filling removed to sample flavors. I had this particular juice called cinnamon bun or something. I really like to EAT cinnamon bun. Turns out I don't like to VAPE it. Everything tasted like cinnamon bun. Everything smelled like cinnamon bun. I tried to get that flavor out of the carto. Nothing worked until I tried cola. Flushed that taste right out. Not sure if it will clean anything, except maybe a car's battery terminals, but it sure did get the old flavor out.

YOU GUYS ARENT GOING TO BELIEVE WHAT IVE DISCOVERED. ITS THE MOST AMAZING ADVANCEMENT IN VAPING HISTORY. ARE YOU READY FOR THIS? COLA WILL MAKE YOUR COIL MAKE YOUR JUICE TASTE LIKE OLD BURNT POPCORN THATS BEEN ON THE FLOOR FOR FIVE YEARS. Just kidding I havent tried it yet, but it looks like most of the gunk has been removed from the coil, so ill update in a few days on how this taste. going to run lots of warm water over it and let it soak in hot water over night and give it a day or two to dry, i probably wouldnt do something like this all the time, but once in awhile like a sunday and im out of wicks, it might be worth it instead of heading to asheville for some new ones

I ran warm water over it and went ahead and tried it. it doesnt compare to a new coil, but it taste about like its been 50% restored, which is acceptable on a day where the local shops are closed and i really need to vape, but at the same time, i think its a lot smarter to just switch to a different tank that hasnt been gunked out, but one day the worst could come and i and others might need this information. but i dont advise it over replacing a coil, nothing beats a new coil.

I read a post a while back that listed a process for cleaning coil heads that went something like this:
Use for a few tanks
Soak over night in grain alcohol
Rinse with hot water
Let dry until next change required

Never tried it, but they said it made their heads last quite a bit longer.

Honestly , I don't understand the idea of cleaning a disposable coil. I vape quite a bit and a coil lasts about 2 weeks, so I buy a new liquid every 2 weeks a 30ml bottle costs me about $14 add in an extra $5 bucks for a new coil makes about $20 bucks every to weeks. That is about 1/4 the cost of my old smoking habit.

Switch to diy and Eva and you'll be down to a $10 a month :p
Saving more I'd never a bad thing :)
