Pretty much. Some like to use soapy water, some water with a little white vinegar, and some alcohol or cheap vodka.

Nono, just hot water. Remove the whole tank and the silicon top and let run with plenty of hot water. For the wicks to dry faster I wrap the head in paper towel and squeeze, let it for a while, then mount it back to the tank. Advisable is to let dry overnight.

And make certain to put the silicon back on when you put it back together, or else it'll be a juice straw
