Although this is certainly not brain surgery and pretty much something we all have done at some stage I just want to show those who haven't tried cleaning knurled rings or connectors. The grooves in these have had owners complaining and even convinced Imeo to change the design of the rev-2 GGTS control tank connector to a smooth design in later revisions. Opinions vary of course but I do personally subscribe to the dual knurled ring look school of thought. They do certainly need more love and attention than any other part of the TS but in my opinion look absolutely great when clean.

This example is the knurled AC ring from a rev-2 Aluminum GGTS which I'm restoring

After cleaning with a toothbrush and aluminum polish the gunk in the grooves is still there

I then deployed the services of a dental tool under a magnifying glass and individually started to remove the gunk from each groove. About half an hour work to do it all

and the finished result before a final polish

BTW discovered that an old toothbrush and some toothpaste, yes toothpaste as a final clean after the hard stuff is gone

works great before a final polish.
