If you have the standard plastic syringes with a rubber stopper, isopropyl alcohol may cause the rubber stoppers to expand and make it almost impossible to use them. You're probably better off rinsing them with water or even giving them a soapy water bath and then rinsing them with water afterwards. I have some all glass syringes and they are much easier to clean and you can use alcohol to clean them if desired.

First time I receive any gear I drop or two of dish soap hot water wash everything. Then give it a full rinse down and hand dry as much as I can then air dry.
Follow ups usually consist of just hot water rinses inside and out.

I know some people use devices like Ultrasonic cleaners. Dash of soap and water. I have no experience with them, but from what I understand after 400+ seconds everything is sparkling clean.

I don't really have any juices that leave a long lasting aroma behind so Hot water and soap is my way.

Behind you
Warm distilled water and occasionally vodka - I no longer use iso on anything because I keep finding they have unlabeled additives for 'safety' that leave distinct (and terrible) tastes behind. Sometimes the unlabeled ingredient is camphor which I still don't understand why but it's terrible terrible and bloody well impossible to get rid of.

Syringes I don't often clean after a few uses just recycle them because one can get a huge box of 10mL and 1mL syringes for dollars.

I remove any o-rings before any - any any - alcohol is used at all though. Cheers, -Mags

i fill the little sink with soapy hot water and as i finish using them i chuck them in, after ive finished my mixes i take the syringes etc out and rinse under real hot water, shake off water then they dry on the drainer, i dont worry to much about getting every bit of smell from the concentrate out anymore, ive never noticed any flav cross contaminating.

I do rub Vg into the black part of the syringe plunger before i insert them into the syringe before i start to stop the plungers coming off the end

I flush mine about 3-5 times with hot tap water; then, because we have a whole-house filtration system with an additional reverse-osmosis drinking tap in the kitchen, I also flush about 2-3 times with the filtered water (some distilled in a bowl would serve as well). If a strong smelling flavor was used, I pour a little isopropyl in a small bowl and dilute it 50% with hot water, and give a couple flushes with that, then do the hot water - filtered water flushes. My syringes last a month or more, with this kind of maintenance.

Andria :) when you say yours last a month or so, what is actually wearing on yours for you to chuck them?
The reason i ask is that i have been using the same ones for about a year and a half and they still look good  ..i will say though that when i do my flavours i dont syringe with the plunger, i hold my thumb under the tip of the syringe to stop the concentrate escaping while i fill to my level then i hold it over my bottle im mixing in and drop my thumb to add

That's probably why yours have lasted so long; I do use the plungers, and the rubber seals seem to be the part that starts fouling up. Sometimes I can see a little shredding of the bottom of the seal, but usually, it just won't move smoothly thru the barrel anymore, so I toss it -- I bought multi-packs, so I generally always have spares for the 1ml, 3ml, and 10ml syringes I use most.

At first, I didn't dilute the isopropyl in the bowl, and the seals fouled up much faster; doing the 50% dilution with hot water keeps the alcohol from degrading the rubber so quickly, and I only use that rinse for the flavors with the strongest odors. Also, some flavors themselves are deleterious to the rubber -- after I have 5-6ml of the inawera shisha strawberry in a 10ml syringe, if I don't rinse it IMMEDIATELY, that plunger won't move again. But, doing the very thorough rinsing that I do keeps them in working order for a month or more, so I can live with that. I always put tape over the markings, so they last as long as the syringe itself.

Andria,
Have you tried lubing the rubber with PG after their bath?

No, I just put them away. When I get ready to mix again, I try 'em all out, make sure the plunger moves easily, and if not, trash 'em and grab another. If I add any further complications to their maintenance, I'll be less inclined to do any of it, or even mix, and I *have* to mix, I don't buy ejuice.

Ah!.. thats why.. Andria :) i hear ya on the not wanting to do any of it if it got any more complicated, i couldnt wait to get a mix on when i first started out but now its become a chore lol.

the only thing i really suckup into a syringe with the plunger is pg/vg, ive always lubed the black plunger with vg before starting.

i use a 35ml syringe with a green tip but i still have to pour 50 or 60ml of vg into a glass and microwave it for 4secs to get it through, i tried using measuring glasses for the vg but its not very precise as you end up with leftovers in the glass, so this is the easiest and fastest way ive found so far...

Yeah I don't use much VG, since I vape 85% PG; I just use a 14ga needle for the little bit of VG I need. If I needed more VG, not sure how I would handle it, maybe get a 12ga needle (because the 14ga with VG is still kind of a pain!). :D

yeah, using alcohol removes all the measure markings rendering them useless (unless they are taped-thanks Andria for that lil' nugget)
Lube on the plungers is also a good idea, nothing worse then a jolty delivery :)

The only thing to be careful of, with the tape, is to get it placed accurately the first time -- because if you try to lift the tape, it brings the markings with it. :D Otherwise, the tape works very well to keep the markings intact thru the life of the syringe, and tape is cheap. :)
