I have cleaned all my other pre made heads and tanks and such by soaking them in everclear and then letting them dry for a couple of days. But know I have started using the Atlantis pre made heads and was wondering if the everclear wood damage this type of head. Since they use Japanese organic cotton I wanted to make sure it would be safe to clean them with everclear.

OK thanks and that's what I will do. And yes they still do use the silica wick and I remember reading somewhere that they are changing over to the JOC. Thanks again for the help.

Aspire uses ceramic/fiberglass wick wrapped in cotton. The company advises against cleaning their coils.

They may be changing their wicking material some time in the future, but it hasn't happened yet. Here's the latest official statement (Feb 2) from Aspire:

Aspire Support: •View topic - Organic Cotton Coils for the Atlantis

Dear Customer,
For the details about our product, please refer to:Aspire Support: •View topic - Aspire official statement on Atlantis coils material
Doubts and fears are due to the lack of cognition. Due to the unfamiliar and unknown on the ceramic fiber used in Atlantis atomizer, Aspire R&D team has been researching to use the organic cotton which is widely accepted by people instead of our present material on the premise of maintaining the optimal performance and stability of our products to meet customers attention and requirements.
If any information, our marketing department will post on our website, please pay attention to our website.
Have a nice day!

Well let's put it this way. It's supposedly cotton with a shroud of ceramic paper on the inside and outside of it. Except it burns so people are thinking it's silica ( which it may be). Anywho, the wick part is cotton (at least it sure looked like it when I take them apart) aspire is looking at making an ALL organic cotton coil, or basically getting rid of the ceramic or silica part.

I'm curious of this as well. I don't have a problem buying the new heads, but it would be nice to save the money. From the replies, it seems that cleaning is iffy at best, and advised against by Aspire themselves. This could be a marketing ploy, but, I think for now, I'll continue buying new heads. How long are your Atlantis heads lasting normally? I have my Atlantis rigged on a Smok Fury S, with the Imren 40a 2500mah 18650 purple battery, all mech, seems to do well for me. My battery life is ~7 hrs. and my heads are lasting ~2-3 weeks depending on the frequency I vape throughout those weeks.

I did something the other day that surprised me. I rebuild the coils with japanese organic cotton. But I was sitting in the car and the vaping tasted not so good and a little funny. So I took a Q tip and twisted while pushing down through the mouthpiece. Twisting the reverse way to take it out the Q tip came out BLACK ! Probably burned up gummy juice on the coil. Did it one more time and it came out cleaner. Vape it after that and it tasted a heck of a lot better. Really wish they would change the coils to OJC. Then I would just replace them instead of rebuilding them. By the way the one I cleaned was a stock coil not a rebuilt.
