I have to disagree with Dalton. I've been blowing out my attys for 5 months and never damaged any. And I blow as hard as I can. I don't see how it can hurt anything. I've even heard of people that use canned air to blow out their attys although I don't recommend that only because it can leave a residue behind that could be harmful to vape.

I stand by the "no cleaning" statement, but if you must blow them out(if they flood or something), remember it is not a police whistle. I've seen people put half their lung power into blowing out an atomizer. That will damage it for sure.

No cleaning sometimes works ok w/ unflavored and clean burning eliquids.
Some flavors foul the wick quick and require cleaning or disposal.

I tend to think that these are replaceble parts. With that said, if I can get 2 or 3 months out of them before breaking the bank and spending a whole $6 on a new pack, so be it.

By that same token I will not be flooding my attys and getting all kinds of gunk built up on them. At least not intentianally. I guess if one ever fails me and I'm without a fresh one to use at that time, I'll pay more attention to this whole cleaning issue.

BTW tmcase, that vv big brother looks pretty cool. Details please?

I never damaged atty w/ less than 10 PSI.
Now days I use shop vac to suck dry.

I second the Boge 510 cartos. A pack of 5 will last you a month or more for $8. That's $2 a week and you will get much better flavor from a carto.

I wash out a 306 drip atty about once a month. That's about how often I wash any atty I use and then only if taste is suffering. When I wash an atty, I do it under running hot water with a pair of tongs for a couple of minutes. Then I dry burn carefully. I agree that dry burning kills the life of an atty. The coil isn't meant to glow red. It's designed to provide heat in a highly saturated wet state.

Nuff said! Gotta trust a guy with 2600 posts.

Holy Crap! I didn't even know I had that many posts...

To be honest, the ones to really trust are the ones with "Veteran" under their name. They have been here over a year, and most of them know all the ins and outs. Myself, I learn everything I can from the veterans, and still welcome new "lessons" from them.

Haha... understood. I just started over the weekend but I'm very happy that I found this place. Thanks for your advice and I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the vets.

I wouldn't put too much stock in the Veteran status because some people joined 2 -3 years ago and only stayed for a little while and then come back. Veteran status only means that you joined 1 yr ago. I would put a lot more stock in post count and read some of their posts in their profile to see if those posts where helping people or just chit chat or entering contests.

Well I really look for a combination of both veteran status AND high post count. After a while ya get an eye for who the movers and shakers are.

I think the point is that there are several methods that work... some work better in one situation than another. There isn't a 100% only-one-way with this stuff.

Sugary juices will gunk up faster and require more "harmful" cleaning methods. I stand by my "least-harm-order of cleaning" post and tend to agree with the less is better approach. However, YMMV. Also, dry burning is as much an art as a science. So results vary widely since overheating, as noted above, is a primary cause of coil failure. Varies by atty type and device voltage too.

ok...gotta throw my 2 cents in on the carto cleaning
(not enough experience on attys to state anything)
These cartos are meant to be disposeable.
Yes...some clean and feel that helps the life of carto and if that works for them...great.

Me...I just don't feel it does enough to help any additional life and especially does not
help the taste/draw factor, which for me, is what happens when a carto deminishes it's
intended time and use
They are less than $2.00 and I use 2 a week.

I also don't wash and resue my disposeable papertowels, sandwich baggies, paperplates.....
call me crazy, but that's my opinion:blush:

I don't mean to deminish those that do clean....just does not do enough for me to justify
the time and effort and especially the taste factor

Stop reading my mind... JK.

This is how I've come to think about the subject, in my short time as a vaporholic.

I usually just rinse with vodka, then water, blow and go, and sometimes not even that. Sometimes I just keep dripping till the older flavor is gone, replaced by what I'm currently dripping. This works well since I only use an atty for tasting new juice. And, hopefully this will only be for a time till I find 10 or so top flavors to alternate. I have blown attys using the dry burn, so I just don't do it anymore.
I use cartos and fluxomizers for daily vaping. I clean only the cartos that I've purchased pre-filled. There is a You Tube video called "cleaning cartomizer, quick & easy that shows using a childs medicine syringe. Comes with a big white cap thing that you place the carto into, and the pressure the syringe creates really does make the method quick and easy.

i never clean them, but since I drip it sometimes get's a little clogged up. I'll take a napkin and blow out the excess liquid. if there's any build up, then i'll grab a tooth pick or something to grab it...but that's rare. like some other's have said, doing any heavy cleaning is just delaying the inevitable and it will effect your vaping experience.

I just connect tube to carto then suck/blow hot water through it.
Next I suck/blow PGA through it.
Finally suck it dry w/ shop vac.

Right on! lol.

I think there's a youtube video about the turkey baster trick with hot water. Basically, the atty (thread side down) goes inside the T.baster, put the bulb back on and suck hot water up from a cup and out again several times. The atty plugs the T.Baster hole as the water goes out and it is forced through the atty. Can also be used out of the hot water for air drying. Good in power failures when your shop vac is not available ;)

I have a 100ml farm animal syringe which also works good.
I've found I have enough hot air that I can get by w/o using syringe.
I also have a solar power dryer but it doesn't work well in da winter:blink:
