Hello everyone! First post here. Never had to make an account before, because all my questions were answered through previous posts. However, now I have a problem that I cannot seem to find a solution... I am not sure if this is the right section to post this in, but since I am a new member, I cannot post in the other sub forums.

My first RDA was a IGO-L from Fast-tech. After a few days of vaping, I noticed that I had red juice in my wick and around the base. I know that IGO-L are cheaply made from Fast-tech, so I just stopped using it.

I recently bought an Omega clone from eBay...Yeah, another China manufactured atomizer, but I thought I would give it another shot.

The same issue I had from the IGO-L is occurring in the omega. I strictly use clear juice, but I am seeing red juice on my wick. The red juice is especially prominent on the screws for the +/- poles.

I decided to do a test by dripping liquid directly onto the screw's head. No surprise, the juice turned red. All testing is done with MT BAKER juice.

Does anyone have a reasoning for why this happens? I know that juice can darken when exposed to oxygen, but this red? I was thinking it was rust from the screws, but the screws themselves are not damaged. The red juice just wipes off, exposing the shiny screw.

I have attached two photos for the before/after test.

photo 2 (12).jpg

Is the juice reacting with the screws and turning red? Why does it do that?

I have a feeling that the screws are not stainless steel, so I purchased new stainless steel screws...

Has anyone had this problem before with clones? Any suggestions?

Thank you!

EDIT: There is no nicotine in my juices, so that minuses one factor out.

Do you have nicotine in it? Cause Nic changes juices color.

Have you tried this same juice with the new stainless screws. I'm leaning towards it being the juice reacting with the screws (assuming they are not stainless). The sure way to know would be trying with the new screws that you know are stainless and see if it's still turning red.

Cheers,
Steve

Thank you for the replies guys!

There is no nicotine in any of my juices.

I still havent received the new stainless steel screws yet, so I havent been able to test them. Btw, if you guys are looking for replacement screws for your RDAs, amazon has them for around 5 bucks shipped (with prime shipping) for 100 screws. The size is M2x.4mm

I really hope its just the juice and not the atomizer. Let me test the screws with another manufacturer's juice.

Knowing width and height of screws is great, but what thread count? 20?

One more here! The screws on my 2 FT clone Kayfun Lites from Tobeco turned red as I was cleaning them for the very first time in Dawn and hot water yesterday. A new Chinese puzzle to solve! And here we go again! Sure hoping others will chime in here, maybe we can figure this out!

As you were cleaning them??? Ok I vote replace the screws with stainless steel if the factory screws turn red. My guess would be China is injecting a little communism into their screws! :p

I just received mine tonight (just grabbed the mail, haven't even opened it yet). From everything I've read a lot of people are replacing the screws (4 of them) with stainless. It's also my understanding that other than o-rings they are the only things not stainless on the Kayfun Lite Styled Rebuildable Atomizer (4.5mL) clone. I'm going to replace the screws and thoroughly clean it before I try it out

Cheers,
Steve

Lol. I'm not biting at that bait! I was soaking them before use to get rid of the machine oil. They were in the Dawn/hot tap water mix for about 45 minutes when I noticed.

Hi Steve! Afterwards, it would be much appreciated if you would post what size screws and O rings you had success with. Thank you and good luck!

It's funny that an expensive RBA would skimp on such an inexpensive item, available to the public(as opposed to Chinese factories) for less then five cents.

Mine were Tobeco clones ordered from FT. If it's an expensive item like the Kayfun, I will often order a clone first to see if like it enough to invest in the genuine article. This was to be my first attempt at rebuilding coils. So if it wasn't for me, no big loss.

I know that sweeter juices turn color as it is atomized. Such as "Red, White and Blue" E-juice from MBV will go in clear and by half a tank down it is a amber/brownish color. It could be just the juice changing color as it's heated. What flavor are you vaping when you notice the red juice?

During my testing, no heat was applied from the atomizer. I just dripped the juice on top of the screws and let it sit. It will slowly turn orange and then red in around 3-4 hours.

I have tried both cotton candy and moo juice from MBV with the same results. I also tried another local B&M juice and it did the same thing.

I have the same thing on my igo-w, didn't think much of it, always assumed it was the heated juice droplets accumulating in the same areas (since the juice pops in all directions inside the casing, I figured much of it was falling on the screw head) IDK, is this something we need to worry about?

Is your IGO-W from Fast Tech? I just ordered an IGO-W from myvaporstore...

At least I am not alone with this issue haha. I am not sure how the red liquid is produced, and if it is dangerous to vape..?

Hopefully the new stainless steel screws will fix it.

On a side note, I decided to test the rigidity of my old IGO-L from fast tech. I placed the entire atomizer in a cup of water for 8 hours, and this was the result:

photo (23).jpg

The positive and negative poles almost totally corroded. The screws also changed to a bluish hue. The base of the igo has also rusted a bit. The top cap showed no damage though. *I also tossed in the screws from my omega clone, but they showed no signs of rust.

Fast tech listed the IGO-L as stainless steel...Not sure if this is suppose to happen to real SS. I emailed fast tech awhile back about the screws, and they would only offer me an exchange.. :glare:

At this point, I would recommend avoiding fast tech for atomizers. I do have the private v2 and nemesis clones from fast tech, and they work great!
