sup guys, new here.. new to building on my igo-l + k100 and I learned a lot already such as make coils nice and tight, mount close to poles but dont touch em.. but i did have some questions about hot spots..

are the wires supposed to turn red when wick is dry? I can get a good 7 or 10 hits out of my igo-l before it starts getting harsh and burnt taste and the inner two coils start turning red. should I be trying to eliminate those? it hits pretty good and no hot spots as long as wick is fairly saturated, but i was just wondering if hot spots appearing after a few hits should be an issue... will try to provide pic of my 4th build ever..:D

Coils on a dry wick should glow evenly across the coil. Hot spots show up as only a single coil loop or a leg glowing. Tension in the coil may be unequal. Try teasing or prodding the hot spot with pointed tool such as a dental pick or blunt needle while glowing (heated metal is easier to manipulate). If you can't get the entire coil to glow evenly, don't use it. Start over...wire is cheap.
