Hiya, still new to this, but no longer smoking! Anyway, Ive had a problem with juices - I can't taste many of them so have been sticking to RY4 and mint as they're pretty strong. I finally found a B&M shop and tried a few different flavours. Thrilled to bits that I could taste them, I bought a few.
But now I'm home, settled back to enjoy them and they taste rubbish! They're no better than any of the others Ive tried.

So is it my clearomisers? My battery? Do they need steeping?
Do cheap clearomisers make much difference? I got a bunch of them on eBay :) I'm using an Ego 510 battery and cheapo CE4 clearomisers.
Thanks.

The shop where you bought the favored ejuice--did they say to let the ejuice age or steep? What type of set-up did you try in the b&m? Something different than what you are using?

When you sampled the flavors at your B&M store, what device setup was being used? What is the PG/VG ratio you are using? Unlikely you are burning the coils if you are using a standard ego battery; I've never tried the CE4's but imagine it cant be much different than an iclear16.

My only suggestion I could offer is to keep trying different vendors, (and try to stick to the same flavor so you can make an immediate comparison) you will eventually find one that is spot on. Good luck!

Hi Neesher! Welcome and congrats on getting off the cigarettes. :)

Definitely a learning curve involved with devices and eliquid delivery systems (ie clearomizers et al).

I'm using several different clearomizers/tanks and have found on my Kanger T3S clearo's, that if I remove one of the flavor wicks from the atomizer heads, the flavor goes from basically non-existent to absolutely delicious.. such a small thing that makes an incredible difference. Whether you can do this with the clearo's that you have, will be something for you to discover.

Also it's really important to clean your clearos/tanks/atomizers thoroughly before using them the first time.. hot water washing and you might let them soak overnight in vodka or pure grain alcohol.. then allow to dry. Many threads on both of these subjects.

There are other factors involved in flavor/vapor production, but these are just two that may help make your experience more enjoyable. Don't give up just yet! Cheers! :toast:

Thanks guys :) Ive got no intention of giving up - it's just frustrating when every single flavour tastes the same!
I've given them all a shake and put them in my box ( I didn't think I'd have a box two weeks ago, but I'm collecting so much paraphernalia!) along with the other 14 bottles that are also steeping!
I'm back on the Mint now ... *sigh*

The clearomiser and the voltage it is being run at have everything to do with the end result.

The ego 510 batteries are often 3.3V output, which is fairly low. What resistance are the clearomisers?

You should probably try an Evod clearo with a 1.8 ohm head in it. I think you'll find the results *much* better.

If you want to persevere with the cheap clearos you might be better off with a twist battery so you can adjust the voltage to suit. Some of those cheap clearos are all over the place wrt resistance.

Neesher congrats on stopping smoking! I would say you should always unopen your juice and let sit for a couple days. Cheap clearomizers do make a difference along with the pg/vg mixer. With CE4 the higher vg will have dry hits and taste burn. If you can get a couple of I16 clearomizers or Evod tanks and you will be able to tell the difference, and make sure you prime before taking a puff. I hope that helps! Vape On.

so is this along the lines of what your using ?
- Inno Express 650 Kit [VE598] - £17.99 : Vape Escape

I'm trying to figure why some (RY4-mint) are getting thru, but others not...
your meaning is they taste -BAD- , or just don't taste -Strong- enuff...?

gonna guess you have a 650mah battery (good charge)
what is the Ω of your clearos--are they all the same ?

are you burning coil/juice--cleaning before use--cleaning between flavors

guess I am just taking pot-shots till I know more...

Ooooooooooo, and welcome to ECF... :)

Take as many pot shots as you like! I really appreciate you all trying to help!

Yes, similar to that, but battery is 1100. I've got absolutely no idea what resistance the clearomisers are, sorry!

It doesn't taste ... bad... more like very bitter with the very faintest taste of whatever its supposed to be. That's why I'm vaping lots of RY4 at the moment - the bitterness doesn't feel wrong ( but there's no sweetness at all and I thought they were supposed to be fairly sweet).

I was speaking to ( emailing) the guy who runs the site where I got the RY4 and funnily enough he uses a VV battery with an Evod and recommended that I try that, so there appears to be a consensus there!

Yes I'm cleaning between flavours and doing dry burns.

Just looking at my coffee table now - looks like a chemistry lab! :D

Welcome and sorry you are having problem. I use iclear16s as my everyday vape but also have kanger t3s and a carto tank no issues. I use them on ego,Evic and MVP2.0. The evic and mvp2.0 great taste the ego give good taste. When I steep my juices for a week or more flavor improves. When I first started did not get much taste if any because of years of smoking. Taste buds are getting better everyday. The RY4 was my go to for the first week or ten days. Don't buy any more juice let it steep. If you want to speed up process you will need an adjustable like the MVP2.0 or similar adjustable. This is just my thought to each his own. Hang in there it gets better. Have fun with your journey into vaping just consider it a learning process. Peace!!!

The CE4 style of tank kind of blows and really mutes the flavors of your liquids. Go for an iClear 16 if you like a warmer, top coil vape, or go for the Evods if you want a slightly cooler vape. Just remember with the Evod heads, if your juice is a 50/50 blend or higher VG blend you will need to remove one or both of the flavor wicks that rest on top of the coiled wick. Hope this helps!

Twists and Evods keep popping up! Looks like I may have to throw some more money at this!

If you don't want to spend too much money, just get an Evod with 1.8 ohm heads, as I said.

I'm pretty sure the battery you have is indeed only 3.3 volts while the cheap CE4s are often 2.4 or even 2.8 ohms so the power applied may be less than 4 watts - there won't be much vapour either. That's why you can have two similar looking systems but have them working so differently. Basically, the CE4s are not a good match for your low voltage batteries, and they are known for muted flavours even when everything else is correct.

If someone broke into my house and stole all my PVs (what a horrible thought!) then the first thing I would do is go out and by some twists and some bottom coil clearos like the Evod, T3S, Protank etc.

I normally recommend the Evod because they just work pretty well out of the box. I can't stress the 1.8 ohm coils enough if you're going to be using them on those ego 510 batteries though - but have a look at the specs or ask the vendor what the output voltage is to verify it. If it's different to what I suspect then my recommendation for coil resistance will probably change.

Thanks, you're all so helpful!
I really enjoy vaping and I love not stinking to high heaven. I moved up from 18mg to 24mg and that was enough to get me off the cigs, almost by accident a few days ago, so I'm vaping away, feeling fine and no withdrawal pangs yet, so I'm quite happy.
I've smoked for (gulp) 25 years and I spent a fortune on cigarettes, so if it takes me a few weeks to break even, then so be it. And let's face it, once I get the setup right, Ive managed to accumulate enough juice to keep me going for months (I've just remembered that Ive got another 3 bottles arriving any day now)!
Going to go and look at more kit ... that link looks interesting!
