A thread for anyone who has questions and then, hopefully answers to those questions.

Question #1

I have noticed that the clearomizers are leaking small amounts of niquid onto the top of the battery. Having spent some time trying to discern whether I was doing something "wrong", I asked my fellow vapers to show me their batteries and all of the one we use clearomizers on are wet.

A. Has this been identified as a problem by SI or are we doing something stupid?

B. Isn't it bad for the batteries to be getting niquid on them.

Thanks in advance for the help I am sure to be recieving. :vapor:

From my week long experience with them I have noticed the same things that you have.

I tend to unscrew mine and wipe my battery off every few hours. It's not a ton of liquid on there but enough to occasionally stop vaping.

The other issue you mentioned happens to me too. It is sometimes difficult to avoid tilting it upward because of where the wicks are located. Once I start to get low on juice I'll tilt is upwards for a few seconds (without hitting it) and let the wicks get nice and wet before taking a pull. Too many occasions I've gotten a tingly surprise by trying to vape with it too far upright.

I have found that tightening the mouthpiece down super duper tight tends to make the leakage in my mouth happen a little less.

Personally, I can deal with an occasional drop of liquid on the batt. I'd rather do that than risk breaking the clearo by over-tightening.

We're still in the first generation of these clearomizers from SI. I've had my original for about 3 weeks now using SI's Ice Menthol juice. I ordered a few more clearomizers as I was expecting an order from another vendor of several trial juices. Well, last nite they came, and I filled one of the new clearomizers with some Strawberry Lemonade from Mrs. T's Bakery. Began vaping while on the internet when after about 5 minutes I became aware of moisture in my hand: my clearomizer with full tank of liquid had ruptured in my hand and the sticky fluid was dripping down my hand and fingers onto my computer desk.

There have been threads here of certain juices being notorius for dissolving the plastics of certain clearomizers. I had not heard of Strawberry Lemonade being one of those flavors and assumed it would be safe. I am rather surprised how quickly a clearomizer can dissolve/fracture due to certain e-juices. Users beware!

While it's not good practice to have that drop of liquid on the batt, isn't that why these batts are sealed?

Edit: I did find a separate ingredients page, but it didn't tell me much. This is why I prefer to mix my own or get liquid from SI for use in my clearos.

I do look at these SI clearos as a kinda beta and I believe that future versions of it will take into account these problems (by using a different material).

I've been using flavors from The Flavor Apprentice. They're pretty good about telling you what chemicals are in their products so you can avoid things that might crack your clearo.

Question #2

These marvelous vaping devices literally pour niquid into my mouth if I vape with them above parallel to the ground.

Is there a fix in the works for this tingly and surprisingly tasty problem?

Yes, there is a fix for that. It's called "Don't vape with them above parallel to the ground!"

I have experienced the drop of liquid on the battery post, but only when I filled past the top of the booty-thing that protects the coil. When I quit over-filling, it stopped happening. (But I didn't stop checking, LOL) I've got 3 of these, and have been using them for about a month, all day, except for the 9 hours or so that I'm at work. And I've had some liquid in the mouth on those occasions when I figured it was less effort to tilt, and tip, and swirl, trying to vape that last 04ml of liquid, than it would be to go refill the darn thing. I can be stubborn.:D

make sure that the silver ring that the tip screws into is completely flush with the plastic ... it can come loose and when it does it creates a gap from where the liquid can escape into the tip... to fix just empty out the liquid and press it down on a flat surface until it pops back in to place. ....

The rule I use is no citrus and cinnamon flavors in the clearos. Both have a history of not doing well with the plastic used.

I'm tightening the black part of the mouthpiece it to combat the problem of getting a mouthful of juice. Best way to make sure that doesn't happen is to not tilt the thing though. I'm not taking pliers to it or anything just making sure it is good and snug. It doesn't feel like I'm putting enough pressure on it to break anything but thanks for the heads up. It's something I will be mindful of.

I've had the silver collar that attaches to the mouthpiece detach from the plastic. I superglued it back on and it's great again, but I don't want to go through that again. Don't know if that was from over-tightening or not. (Probably not).

Whether they are or not, I tend to treat these clearos as delicate. I'm hoping they'll last longer that way. :)

I haven't been careful at all with mine - in fact I've dropped a couple because I do that as a general rule. And, I overfill the heck out of 'em - all NINE of 'em. I've been using them since they became available, and still not problem number one. Seriously - I'm not gloating here, but I wonder what the difference is. ???? I also go against the rules and rest mine standing upright while on the battery. I'm doing everything wrong, but they've been flawless for weeks.

my guess would be that the part of the juice (the flavoring) that does not get vaporized recombines with the liquid making it darker/thicker (in a regular carto it causes a carto to clog)....

Some juices in thinner lighter color liquids with less sediment would be less likely to do this
Anyone know why juice tends to turn a darker color in these clearos?

It happens in light-exposed bottles too, so maybe it's the nic, but probably not anything to worry about in this short a time period. I've noticed too that some flavors burn a little hotter than others (from condom-filling cartos), and once in awhile you get a little bit of the soot from the coil mixing in with the liquid...but if it's not tasting burnt, I guess maybe it is the sediment thing too...
