I think the other stuff is called cartomizer but not sure.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of a clearomizer as compared to the other thing (not talking about dripping)?

I currently use a Kanger T3S. The only other things I have used are a disposable which I liked (but is too expensive) and a cheap e-cigarette (where you get boxes of 10 catridges) which you replace. I hated the e-cigarette - it needed really frequent charging and nicotine leaked into the mouth all the time.

if you are talking about the end of a cig-a-like e-cigarette, those are cartomizers.
there are also cartomizer tanks available that surround those cartomizers (with holes punched in them) and last a long time.
Clearomizers are usually reuseable plastic/glass tanks with/without replaceable/rebuildable coils/heads.
Cartomizers are not rebuildable and have to be replaced after a certain amount of useage.

there is probably a lot more on cartomizers, but I don't use them, so I'm not very knowledgeable about them

Many of the cigarette-size starter kits will use cartomizers (also sometimes called cartridges). These batteries can use either pre-filled cartomizers, or use blank (empty) cartomizers where you fill them yourself from bottled flavored e-liquid. These batteries have a very short battery time.

Pre-filled cartomizers are more expensive than filling the blank ones yourself. For some novice vapers, the pre-filled offer a decent way to get started into vaping to see if it will all be worthwhile to help them stop smoking. The vast majority of people quickly end up either filling their own cartomizers to save money, or make the switch over to clearomizers on the larger and longer lasting eGo batteries.

Clearomizers have the advantage of being able to see the e-liquid volume as it is being consumed, because they are made from a clear plastic. Since cartomizers are steel tubes, you can not see the e-liquid within them to know when they need to be re-filled, and therefore you run the risk of burning the wick and ruining them.

Slightly more advanced vapors often use pre-punched cartomizers in cartotanks. This allows the cartomizers to be automatically refilled with e-liquid with each draw one takes while vaping. Cartotanks have a larger capacity of e-liquid so that one can go 1 - 2 days between refills of the tank. For many who use them, cartotanks offer better flavor and vapor production over a clearomizer, but each type of delivery device has its supporters of what works best for them.
