So I'm low on cash this month and I need a new coil. There's only one store close to me that sells the Kanger occ coil for the subtank individually. They have both the old square occ and the newer clyndrical ssocc. I can't afford to go elsewhere where they only sell them by the pack. I went to this store not long ago and was about but one of their coils but i got suspicious they were clones when I noticed the wattage rating for the .5 nichrome coil was labeled in correctly (15-30w). I made sure they weren't the SS .5 coils which are rated at 15-30 I think. Thought for moneys sake if get one anyway. Can using a clone/fake coil damage a tank or it's base in anyway before I go and get it?

It won't cause any damage to mod or tank. But the wick material won't last through as much juice as the real one will, and the way the coil is put together might make it difficult to screw the base back onto the tank.

I goofed and bought a 5-pack of clone square OCC's on FastTech a while back. They're ok, but they don't perform as well. Still have three from that pack; kept as backups.

If it is one of the square shells with 2 large holes and you have wire and can build coils. Those shells can be easily rebuilt with 3.5 MM id coils. The coil will fit thru the top and you can use the rod you wrapped the coil on to hold in place while refitting it. The cotton wick will be the same size as the holes

I have had a couple of the clone coils that actually worked ok
