That hole is there so you can get a socket wrench on the 510 from below, putting new hose on etc., just makes maintenance easier. The soft bottle may be smaller diameter, dunno. I make my bottle holes tight, tight bottle holes make for easier squonking. If it's smaller it might rattle around I there a bit, but it should still be easy to squonk being so soft with a big thru hole in the pin. The hole in the pin in that mod is really big. I wouldn't worry about your hose breaking .

All of which makes perfect sense. The softy fits just fine, and I never thought that the hose would actually break, however I am aware that the bottle is just a hair smaller than the OEM. Squonking is a pleasure either way, though the softy is considerably... softer :)
Still a badass mod. I love it!

Does the silicone Burke rest on the little detent down there our does it conform around it?

My hose is a little longer, so the bottom of the bottle is nearly flush with the bottom of the mod. The bottle is barely deflected by the detent, as far as I can tell, but there is no rattling to speak of as the difference in diameter is negligible.

Sweet, that's what I was shooting for when I did that, I just wanted pressure, just a tiny bit, on the bottle all the time so it didn't rattle if it was lose. Pretty sweet, let me know how those things hold up
I tend to go thru bottles pretty quick, but it's probably just because I have a lot of them so I yeah then pretty quickly.

I sent you a few emails tbev when you have a minute.

Inregard to the bfx bottles . I have been using the 8.5 version same as the 10 you guys are using just samller be carefull with them. They are a pain in the but to open as you all have learned i was grabing the bottle to turn it of instead of the metal peice on the top. Over about 2 month of taking it off that way it rip the top lip of the bottle right of so they are not indestructible.

Just an FYI but, they need only be snugged up and not torqued down because its the silicone lip inside the top cap that does the sealing...not the threads... Maybe its because of the bottle designs that have been used up until now but, why would you expect the bottle to open by turning just the bottle and not the 2 piece cap? Curious is all...

So hold the top part of the cap with one hand and turn the bottle with the other hand. As you stated its the top of the bottle its self that makes the seal so turning the bottle its self breaks the seal. Is the only way i could get it apart they should make both parts of the cap groved. I like the way they squonk but have another brand new bfx 8.5 ml bottle i will never use because of how hard they come apart.

Ain't it though?!!? Amazing things happen when you decide to start playing and experimenting with things! That red epoxy inset matches perfectly with that red glass top cap, too! Apparently I need to get a green one, though... @LittleBird said it'd be more Christmas-sy if I matched green to the red. ;)

Hold the bottom cap and "then" turn the top cap off is how everyone else seems to do it...

Obviously it broke more than the seal it seems!! Sure, I can open a window by hitting it with a hammer, but then that would be "user error", wouldn't it?
they should make both parts of the cap groved.
Maybe someone should shoot them a pm or email and suggest that. I'm sure they would dismiss the suggestion as there are sure to be thousands of them in the wild working as they are intended to work.

Sorry to hear yours didn't work out and I sure hope what you use in the future works better. I would hope you use whatever you go with in the manner it was meant to be used though...

Some random pics, battleship gay, titanium blue and nra blue.

I've slimmed down the micro a little bit as well. The inside geometry is a little different and the corners are smoothed all the way around, there's a bit of weight loss, and thickness it's reduced as well. It's more like a Bic lighter rather than a box with rounded corners now, still hits like a champion.

Yeah I agree, I really like battleship gray myself. I don't have a mod with blue spatter in the shop at the moment but this is the controller to one of my mills in battleship/nra blue spatter. I really like the spatter on battleship. Red blue, zombie green ask look really good on that gray.
