So your Regulated mod will be an 18650 and not Lipo?... I may have to get in line for one than, investing in another charging system was one factor keeping me from buying one... frying the chip is the other.

As for frying the chip, a replacement SX350J board is only about $70 retail. I may actually buy a spare board or two just to have on hand. They won't be available forever...

With a couple of spare boards, a regulated Tmod should be good to go for a very long time.

Are the boards easy to replace for a fumble fingered, electronically challenged old bird such as myself?

Soldering is certainly required but beyond that, I'm not sure how accessible the board will be in the mod. Worst case scenario, I'll just ship the mod and spare board to Tom and let him deal with it. ;)

FWIW, I'm not sure I've read about many (any?) SX350J board failures. They seem to be very reliable boards. But, like all electronic components, they will eventually die. Buying a couple of extras to protect my $550 investment seems pretty reasonable.

The sx350j or j board, is pretty bullet proof. I haven't had any problems and if o did they would replace them, I'm sure of that. That's why I am using them. The deal with the mod is that with the board being so huge, it's prolly 3x as thick at least and over 2x as long as a dna, the cavity that I build into the mod is huge and should easily house any other board as well. So if a new better one comes out we can throw it in place of the j board. Another key feature of the jboard, besides it's huge power, which is the max I think you can get from an 18650, is that it's upgradable, so when. New tech comes out they just add it to the firmware and you plug in a micro USB and load it, stupid easy.

I have an SXMini that I occasionally use (gasp! Its a non squonker! LOL) and the board performs excellent. Hasn't missed a beat. I have confidence in this chip. Early on b4 I discovered bottom feds, I had a popular mod that had a DNA chip in it and it crapped out after a couple of months. Had the chip replaced and PIFd the mod to a vaper in need. I had then discovered mech squonkers and never looked back. I do like having a regulated or two around to use for kicks and for fiddling with RTAs. Still squonk 95% of the time tho [emoji6]

I gotta say I really like turning the power down so I can hit it in the morning if I'm asleep still and it doesn't throttle me like I normally prefer it throughout the day, and I can kinda stay asleep. I guess what I'm saying g is I can vape in my sleep a little better with the sx mod, I dunno if that's something I should share...whatever. It will never replace my mechs for use in the shower tho..

I have an SVA with an SX350, with no temperature control, and only 50 Watts. I really like it, but I use the T-mod all day, every day.
I can't be bothered with nickel wire. Kanthal is so easy, and works so well.

Does anyone know if my SX350 is firmware upgradeable to a higher wattage?
