Tom - Appreciate the update.. Looks like within a couple of weeks we should be seeing these mods out in the wild
Yeah here ya go guys update on the sx mods. Lot has been happening latley. I got one of them, the original back from the cnc guy who did the faceplates. On the original mod , the prototype, he had gone around the edges where the faceplate seats down into the back of the mod with his cnc mill, it looked great, better than I could do on my manual machine. Because it looked fo good I sent all of the mods to him to have him do this same thing on all of them. I got them back last night, they look great. Here's a pic, let me explain a little. The colored mod is just another mod I made a while back, but the groove the faceplate sits in is done by hand by me, I can do it better than this one is done bit not as well as the raw aluminum ones next to it. Those are the actual sx mods. I'm really happy I had that done, it cost me more money and took a little time but it was certainly worth it I think.
I've also added some cool features to the mod. I have added an adjustable contact for the battery. It's adjustable from underneath the cap to accommodate for a wider variance of cells. I'm also adding a plate to the bottom of the cap, made of g10 (good plastic) just to clean things up.
I'm doing the plate today and painting the first mod tomorrow. They are all done up to the point of being painted. The board's are all prewired as much as possible so the process will go much faster than when I build mods one at a time, start to finish.
I appreciate everyone being really cool about the extra time this has taken. I believe I am doing it correctly, I certainly wouldn't want to put a mod out there that sucks. There's nobody that wants to get these finished and shipped more than me, I promise. This mod is fantastic, your gonna like it. Thanks guys, you rock![]()

You missed the update on the 22nd then. Where he mentioned a family issue in addition to the extra outside work. This was posted August 12. People are getting impatient and it's not hard to see why. Can we get a straight answer on when the SX mods will be shipped?
Well sorry about being gone for so long everyone, my little brother had a baby a couple days ago and its still in the hospital, i finally got to see it yesterday. I know I was absent from the thread for a good 12 hours, my bad. I'm in California btw, so im usually a little late to get here, behind the rest of the country\world.
Im having a little more work done on the sx mods. After I got the faceplates back I decided that I wanted the cnc guy to do the holes that the faceplates go in as well . I'll decscibe this as best I can; the faceplates are sitting flush, recessed into the back of the mod, the hole that the plates are sitting in I had origionally done myself. When I got them back he had gone over the hole in one mod (with the cnc mill) it looked great, much bettere than I had done by hand on my machine, so i gave him all the mods and he is doing it to all of them right now. It added a few days onto the wait but it looks really good. I think you will all be happy that I did this. I apologize for the wait, its taken longer than I wanted as well. Its the first regulated mod I've done and I want it to be as awesome as i can make it. I have to wait till monday to talk to the shop but i will talk to him on monday and let you know.
