My wife has declared this a perfect match to the Djarum Black Cloves!
...
Here is the recipie I have settled on:
So much for my promise to myself to not use essential oils :p It's not so much that they clog my atty, but that the flavor tends to disappear.

Anyway, I found the clove and anise oils today at one of the local health food stores.

I tried your recipe, using 48 mg unflavored PG, and needed to make a few tweaks. I had to change the ratio of VG to PG to get it to the strength I like (~14 mg), and I tweaked the amount of clove oil to get a stronger clove flavor. And, I used everclear instead of vodka.

The throat hit and vapor are awesome. It doesn't taste exactly like the way I remember Blacks tasting, but more like the way I WANTED them to taste. :D All that, and it doesn't mess up my throat the way clove analogs do.

Anyway, here's my version of your recipe, mixed in the order you suggested:

6 ml VG
4 drops clove oil
1 drop anise oil
1 ml everclear
3 ml 48 mg PG unflavored

I think this one's going to be a keeper for me.

Thanks again for posting the original recipe.

I like hot buttered rum, so I'm soaking whole cloves and cinnamon in 151 to try. I've read where the flavors with oils will kill your atty so scared to try that. Fortunately butter flavor has no oil. Would like to know if anyone has tried butter schanpps though.

What do think will leech out of the cloves and cinnamon into the 151? ---> Oil <---

That is where the flavor comes from, that is why there is no artificial clove flavorings. I have been using a new atty with only my clove mix and it is still going strong after 14 days now. BTW even with Ariel's modified mix you would still only have .025% oil per drop of ejuice, and in my opinion is to low to really affect the atty.

I just thougt maybe the oil content would be lower. what do I know I just found out what a e-cig is two weeks ago :) This is what I did though:
soaked 3 cloves and 1/2 cinnimon stick in 10ml 151 24 hrs

2 ml PG with nic (24mg)
2ml VG
.5ml clear mexican vanilla
.5ml butter flavor
.5ml 151 mix

I also stuffed the cart with LPTB/coffee filter. This went great with the caramel tea that came out of it!

I love this forum BTW I've learned a lot in a short time.

I haven't been able to buy clove cigs in my home state for ever (Maryland). Always picked up a pack when I went out of state. Nice to be able to mix up some myself!

I have a question though. What is the purpose of the Vodka (I used Everclear)? I use it to dilute VG but since this recipe calls for a PG/VG mix (I have 48mg PG) I wouldn't have thought the alcohol was necessary. What do you find it adds (or subtracts) from the mix?

Also, if your tongue and lips don't get numb then it isn't a clove cig!

PS - Dan, do you dive? I took my avatar in Tortola. Got a recipe for Nitrox flavored vape?

I agree about the throat. I'm thinking this tastes more like Sampoerna filters. I started buying those instead of the Djarums precisely because it would give me the flavor without ripping out my throat. Still, I could only do a couple a day.

Tastes like I'm on vacation!

The vodka or everclear your choice hepls to dilute the oils, I always add the ingredients to the bottle in the following order: VG, vodka, clove/anise oil, PG. Then shake the heck out of it and vape!

I use the VG for the sweetness, and the added vapor. Granted the VG masks the flavor somewhat that is why I dont use all VG base liquid. You can omit the VG and vodka if you want, I have mixed a no nic PG base for someone and the oil mixed just fine in the PG. You just dont need as much in oil in a straight PG based mix.

The more clove oil you use the faster your mouth will go numb! I started out with 1 drop clove and 1 drop anise, 10 drops VG, 10 drops PG and 2 drops vodka. By the 4th puff my tounge had gone numb. So it is all up to you as the the effect you are looking for. With a drops of clove and 1 drop of anise by the 14th puff my tounge began to tingle. So it is up to you on how strong you make it.

Yes I scuba dive, I was 3 hour from my AI when I got sent to Bosnia in 98. I still dive but just for pleasure now and not in a teaching capacity.

Not only that, but with that number of drops the clove flavor is INTENSE. It gives the same numbing effect that analog cloves do.

I have a friend who's on a quest for a good clove juice.. she vaped some of my blend and immediately asked if she could buy 10 ml of it.

and so far I haven't had any atty death from my clove juice, or any of the other small portions of oil I use.

It probably helps that I use an atty for maybe a 2 or 3 days MAX (usually just 1 day), before cleaning with hot water then denture cleaner.

Glad to hear, I have been mixing that recipie and I get the same reaction, I want 10ml of it how much? LOL Glad to hear, clove is either a love or hate taste, and everyone that likes clove ciggies loves this!

Here is the recipie I have settled on:

2 drops clove oil
1 drop anise oil
20 drops vodka
5ml drops VG
4ml drops PG 36mg nic

Makes 10ml of clove juice. As I sit here I am puffing away and it is smooth, a perfect flavor. The anise makes all the difference, it adds the spice to the clove and really compliments the flavor. Not too strong and not to subtle, just right. And I am on day 5 of my atomizer using oil with no problems so far.

When mixing this, add in this order: VG, then oil, then vodka, then PG and shake. The vodka helps to break up the oils and distributes it in the VG and PG nicely. I have no problems mixing it. It does not pool on the top like you would think. I think the VG helps to suspend it. I dont know, I just care it taste great!

I will report back on the status of the atomizer.

This recipe needed a bump. Followed the same ratio as above only to make 6ml instead of 10ml. The Anise flavor really makes a huge difference.

Tied for my favorite DIY liquid along side my M&M (creme de menthe and menthol). Good job Dan.

Thanks for bumping this! I got some Clove Juice that was, um, let's just say it "was not the vision I had" and leave it at that. I too live in the lame state of Maryland and had to drive elsewhere to buy cloves to have them.

I guess in a couple days everywhere else will suck as bad too :(

Hopefully betwixt the local Wally World and Mick's I can find the clove and anise Loran's.

if it works out, I may even dedicate some carts to the flavor and wrap them with paper tape so i can put a drop or two of liquid sweetener on them to seal the deal :)

I have a jar of cloves and a bunch of vg and mixing liquid coming in.
Has anyone tried soaking the clove nubs to get the flavor or is that just going to be a toxic nightmare?

The problem is that the oil from the cove is what contains the flavors. So if you soak them in VG you dont really know what the concentration of oil will leech out. If you use 2-4 drops of the clove + anise mix 2:1 ratio which I keep premixed in a 10ml bottle (2 drams clove to 1 dram anise from Lorann). Then you know the exact amount everytime. Just my 2 cents.
