I came away feeling that it presented the info in a fair way, did not sensationalize any facet of the discussion and really, if it leaned any direction at all, it tended to slightly lean toward the positive ..

I also thought it was refreshing to see something that did seem to fairly present both sides of the debate .. because there is two sides of the debate ..

This from Siegel made me laugh out loud. Evilly.

"True we don't know the long-term health effect of e-cigarettes, but there's a very good likelihood that smokers are going to get lung cancer if they don't quit smoking," he said. "If they can switch to these and quit smoking traditional cigarettes, why condemn them?"

Siegel theorizes the e-cigarettes might look too much like smoking.

"It's ironic the very thing that makes them so effective ... drives the anti-smoking groups crazy. But what makes them so effective is it mimics the physical behaviors smokers have, which is something the patch can't do."

Those were probably the best lines in the piece .. and should be used in each and every instance where we are forced to defend ourselves ..

That was a bit encouraging. TY for sharing. I personally don't get the children references.(In general, not specifically this artical) I have never seen another vaper in real life. Who are these kids? the cig-a-likes are behind the counter here with the regular cigs. Lets say I was 14yr again and I got a gift card from grand ma that could sneek by on the internet. I would so spend that on music, clothing, electronics. fun stuff. IMHO.

"People using the nicotine e-cigarettes quit at a slightly better rate compared with those using the patch, though. Some 7.3% using the e-cigarettes abstained from smoking traditional cigarettes".

That number surprises me. I would have thought it would be a lot higher, however, if I would have been given an e-cig with less nicotine than I needed then I probably wouldn't have quit either.

I only know three other people who vape and all quit analogs within one week.

That suprizes me to. I suspect that they are cigalike users and not as in-the-know as us ECF'ers. That would change that statistic.

The cig-a-like gang that buys on impulse are far and a way the highest percentage of users and initial buyers .. we here on ECF are pretty much in the minority .. as well, most information seems to indicate folks prefer the look of the cig-a-likes ..

Very true .. I started back in the Dark Ages with an NJOY kit ..

Problem is, a good many don't find ECF or are unaware of the alternatives to the cig-a-like .. and many others that simply prefer that look and style as it mimics what they are used to ..

I started on Blu disposables. I liked the flavor so much that when I finally made the step to my venerable Ego kit, the first thing I did was search for the Blu classic tobacco flavor. That led me here, which led me to Johnson Creek.

Their Red Oak Domestic and Tennessee Cured are the two liquids that I refuse to run out of and I am still stocking up on them.

That is, until I figure out their flavor profile and clone it in my evil DIY lab.

If I can clone Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Torpedo IPA, I can clone Johnson Creek's tobacco flavors. It's only a matter of patience, experimentation, and time.
