Okay..so that's a bit over the top for a thread title, but I wanted to get a bit of attention. What happened was I got some dual coil mega cartomizers from a friend. He told me he thought they were either 1.5 or 2ohm. We used a multimeter and the lower ones read about 3-something on the meter and the other ones read 4.2. We thought perhaps the meter was only picking up the one atty...so the 3-somthings must be 1.5 and the other one was the 2ohm. Not sure how that works because neither of us are fans of dual coils and don't use them. But these were free..so we thought we could give 'em a go. Anyway, I put the one that was supposed to be "1.5 ohm" on my eGo T mod and the light on the power head started flashing right away. Hadn't even touched the button yet! I thought maybe the battery had died so I put a new one in. Did the same thing. Okay...so I decided to try again in my telescope. Figured it's more sturdy and could handle the dual coil better. Put it in, and after fiddling the connection on the carto a bit...got it to fire up. Three puffs into a very burnt tasting vape...I noticed the telescope was getting hot. I immediately took it apart and got the battery out. It was also quite hot...and the coating on the lower end (by the negative end) had melted a bit...about the size of a dime had come off the battery.

Luckily the telescope appears to be unharmed. Now about that battery. We put the meter on it and it's reading a 3.9 to 4 volt charge still. The silver casing on the battery is not scorched looking and is intact. Just the red coating stuff is melted a little on that one end. Is this battery done for? Or can I maybe wrap some electrical tape over the spot and use it in a pinch if I need to? Please advise.

I had shorted out my setup before, and had the same thing happen with the battery. I tossed it. Not worth having an accident. Just saying..
