So I had my old (four month old) Hello 016 battery in its usb charger (4.2v 420mA) when I noticed the charger smoking, and then the battery started to sink towards the desk. The charger unit literally melted away, with the battery still connected to the chargers threads, the metal threads were hanging by a single wire.
The battery itself has cooled down in the last ten or so minutes. While it was smoking hot, I quickly chucked it into my desk (which is made of metal) and then came here. I'm wondering if the battery is unsafe for future use (after I replace the charger) and If anyone else has noticed any problems occurring from the newer 016 batteries screwing with old 016 chargers.
