Are you using solid wicks through the original wick hole? I used an 1/8" bit and enlarged the wick hole on mine. I think my wick dims are around 40 x 70 mm rolled pretty tight. It's not quite solid (very tiny hole down the center) but I did crimp the top. Awesome performance but i've made really good wicks your way too. I keep rolling solid now because there just easy for me to work with and easier to use with 28g kanthal.

i tried in a couple things and i just dont seem to get the same pluming clouds.
i try my best to not modify my stuff. like when i switched apvs the hole position changed and all i had to do was move a screw over, if i drill it the screw no longer fits or in the future if i sell it modding could be a drawback (theres always something else to try i may like better lol)

Huh guess i will try both ways.
why not its worth a shot you may come up with something in between both our versions that works perfect for you. this is one of those things for some reason not everything works for every person and it's strange.
i cannot wrap a coil around the wick to save my life. but if a do something like the drillbit method i have a working coil in 5 minutes.

I'm thinking of enlarging the wick hole also in my Cobra. Using 1/8" drill, isn't there a chance of drilling through the side oring slots? There is not to much room to open up the wick hole.

Just keep the bit straight and and you wont have any problems. It actually drilled out pretty easy, I drilled two 1/8" holes in mine. I've also oversized the wick holes with an 1/8" bit on all of my other attys. The wick holes on some of the other attys are closer to the center pole and the worst that i've done is scar it a little on those. It really does make a big difference (IMO). Regardless of which style wick you plan to roll (solid or not) more wick = more vapor/flavor. I still like to leave a slight gap between the wick and wick hole. I've tried them with the wick jammed in there with no gap and it just doesnt perform as well for me. I started with 40 x 90 mm rolled tight but have been going with mostly 40 x 60-65 mm on my Cobra.

Honestly I wouldn't bother if I were you. My unmodified Cobra(the body, I drilled the cap out to 1/16") is the best RBA i've ever used(my BliSS pretty much ties it up performance wise but the Cobra is king overall). I always used a solid wick as well but a wick with a small center channel probably wouldn't hurt anything if you're having wicking problems. IMHO you should just leave it stock (again unless you want a more airy draw with more vapor production you can drill the top cap to 1/16" but even that may not be necessary to a lot of people).

Phreaky how much more airy is it now that you drilled the cap ? also what wight are you using for your ss ? No way am i drilling the body of my cobra...cap Maby someday

i do not mean to speak for Phreaky or infer his suggestions, but just trying to answer the questions you asked from my experience if that helps...

if the initial draw it too tight, take a small safety pin, paperclip and push thru the hole, as it can be clogged with debris. granted this is still a tight but "surprisingly" pleasant tight draw. not like the tightness of an ego-c where the draw is tight, suck 10 min and get no vapor. it's a tight pull that you can "feel" the vapor, and then clouds are released. haven't had any draw like this and i really thought i was going to have to problems with tightness.

also, when first wick/coil is setup, no hot spots, shorts etc. line the air hole at the wick, granted the draw will be tight but it will break in the coil twice as fast. after performing well, adjust so the airhole is slightly to left/right of coil, not on other side of tank but take a cold pull as you move the top cap and you'll feel the draw open. now the draw is not so tight and it's pulling air across that notorious top coil hotspot.
(i actually did discover this on my own, but reading thru cobra forums saw that someone else suggested it...cant remember where i read it so credit goes to him)

i used #500 45x40w rolled tight, then loosened wick, around thin paperclip, using PK coil method. 2 ohm coil, 1/4 thru first tank and flavor vapor spot on. i did oxidize wick more than i normally do but not turn to ash...no bigge, it's a stable setup that will fill my car in 10 seconds

i love the cobra and wish i could get 2-3 more.

report back when yours arives, if it hasnt and you have any suggestions that might be working for you...as i'm sure my setup can still be improved.

I received my Cobra finally yesterday, after being stuck in customs for nearly 2 weeks. I was skeptical at first, because I'm used to a little looser draw, with my ZAP, DiD, and Bliss. Previously, I had opened up the holes on all of my Chinese RBAs. But I am pleasantly surprised. The draw is a bit tighter, but not objectionably so. Certainly not as tight as the early Chids, with the small holes were. I think I'm going to leave mine stock. Really a nice piece.

What is up with customs, my cobra was held for over two weeks as well. Its finally been released and should be here in a couple of days.

I love the draw of the cobra. i did have to take a paperclip thru the air hole at first.i am on my second set up, i had them too tight on the first go and i think i messed up the ss like that. i have not done the drill bit set up yet. for me i just burn the ss coil out of the tank then just put it in. now a question for you, on my first set up it took 30 min and done. i cut 40mm by 40mm and rolled tight on paperclip. my whole wick was less than 2mm cause it just slid in the tank, but it worked and worked great. now i just got done with my 2nd and it took about hour and a half. ss was 40mm h by 45mm w still on paperclip but not rolled so tight so i had to push just a little for it to go in the tank. and after that i had hot spots that would not stop. do you think its better to have more space for the wick to go in the hole? or are yours kinda loose? i am guessing if you had 45mm w too and just put a paperclip in then yours was kinda loose going in the hole too? anyway after a fight with it tonight its working VERY well 1.3ohm 3.6v and juice taste great.

I have no idea; but it's annoying. I had ordered mine a couple days before New Years. Last Friday, I emailed alba, and they responded, saying it was at Kennedy, in N.Y. I received it yesterday.
