I made some homemade Kona Coffee flavoring using tips found in this thread:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/239733-coffee-flavor.html

I was pleased with the results. Mixed up some e-liquid and gave out taste tests. The flavors blended and hit in about 2 days. All were pleased with the taste. One asked me some questions that I haven't had this on-hand long enough to find out myself yet...

I asked questions in that thread, but got no responses in over 2 days. Deleted any of my questions from my post there to ask in it's own thread:

- How long does the flavor derived from using that technique last before it starts breaking down?
- Does it get soured or bitter after a time? (like some other flavors)
- Is there a shelf life?
-- If it does, is there a way to try to make it last longer without affecting that flavor?

I know that flavors carry better in PG rather than VG and that things seem to last longer in PG... But just like with other things... If you introduce something organic into something non-organic, then the organic part of that introduces the risk of molds and other ways of breaking down... (Example- Margarine. Set margarine out and years later it will be the same. Leave some breadcrumbs in it and -> mold.)

Real brewed coffee itself turns sour in taste and molds if left... Just curious if that is different brewed/extracted/infused/concentrated into a PG base. I know that some other things in a petroleum base will not mold unless "water" is introduced into it... That is why we use DW in e-juice.

Average for store bought flavoring is 18 months but there have been reports of over 3 years. As far as extracted flavors I would assume only 2 - 3 months as these are basically essence and natural flavors. Most store bought are synthetic flavors. But I could be wrong. I have tobacco absolutes and tobacco extracts that are 6 months old and are still good. But don't know if this applies to coffee's.

Let's see. Flavor = extracted directly into PG, which one of PG's physical properties is as a preservative. So I'm thinking as a flavor it may last a bit. But once mixed... ???

Seems like natural flavors extracted into an alcohol base last a while, but then they don't really have the same tastes.

I guess only time and personal real-world testing is going to show this for sure. What I do notice, is that this takes only 1-2 days for the flavor to hit/cure. Whereas, with artificial coffee flavors, it takes about 4 days.

It also seems to vape a lot cleaner on coils than artificial's.
