I find it very ironic that on the FDA blog, the Commissioner says, "The next time you’re out with your kids, take a moment to pause and look at the adult smokers you pass on the street [to teach them about the dangers of smoking.]"

I certainly agree with Siegel and do not shelter my kids from seeing something that may harm them, in an age appropriate way. I had a step-sister that was sheltered from EVERYTHING until she graduated form high school. When she went off to college, oh man, she had no clue what life was like in the real world, and well, I'll just say her life went downhill because she had no experience and no guidance.
