Coil build help

So I've got a 1-1.1 ohm coil built on my igo w, yet it takes a second to heat up before it actually produces any vapor. Is this normal, because the 1.1 ohm coil on my protank mini heats up instantly?

What gauge wire and what size wrap are you using?

8-9 wraps of 28 gauge Kanthal over a jewelry kit screwdriver.
