Just got mine today. I've been using a Kayfun with coils built at 1.1 to 1.3 ohms on a Provari mini. I like it but wanted to try something new to see if I could get more flavor and vapor so I got the Orchid.

Watched a few videos on how to build the coils and tried it out. I used 28 ga Kanthal with about 13 wraps on a 1/16 inch drill bit for each coil. Meter says it's .9 - 1.0 ohm. When I fire it up one coils glows right away and the other one just kind of stalls before it heats up.

My Provari doesn't like the build either. It errors out if I push it above 3.8 volts. So I put it on my Kamry and it seems like a very cool vape and just lackluster. It's also leaking—a lot. Soooo... what am I doing wrong? I'm guessing probably everything.

Have you adjusted the coils after installed. It will always glow more an one coil when first installed. Just get out your tweezers and give them both a squeze and it should get them working right. If not take out the buikd and start again making sure equal wraps on both and repeat the squeze thing. Just about to order one myself too.

Adjust both coils to fire together, give them each a slight squeeze. As for leaking here is what I do to get my v4 to stop leaking. First after fill get a napkin, blow through the drip tip and excess will go into the napkin, then place it on your mod, take a drag and blow the vapor back through the drip tip.this should push the vapor out of BOTH holes. Wipe any excess liquid and take another drag, blow the vapor back through the drip tip and it again should come out BOTH holes then the unit should be pressurized and leaking will stop. It should vape great now. I do this EVERY TIME I fill my orchid v4. It works perfectly for me and no leaking! Best wishes

Pictures please! (of your build)

It can be a simple thing such as the tightening of the build screws, try tightening the screws that hold in the slower to heat up coil.

As for the leaking, a picture is handy for this one, but I have found that making a sort of C around the top of the juice channels works for me. (so that the channel is not blocked and the wick makes a barrier around it)

Um, coils heating unevenly is a sign that one of your screws aren't tight. And if you have a coil that's not firing well, you'll cause one side to overwick and create leaking. And the orchid works on reverse pressure, which is vacuum. So it doesn't need to be "pressurized" in fact it needs the exact opposite. But someone above mentioned a screw not being tight. Especially with 28 gauge man. You always should retighten a few times with thin wire as it likes to bend or mold after heating and you'll find that on dual coils you'll need to retighten everything while setting youre coils to ensure even heating. If you're running a provari, I'd suggest just a wrap or two more. You're probably pretty low on resistance for the provaris liking. I believe it's mimimum resistance is somewhere around .85 so being off just a touch could put you in the error range.

Thanks so much for all of the advice. I'll take all of the suggestions and try another build. I'll report back. BTW... is there another gauge of Kanthal that I should be using instead of 28?

I don't yet have the V4 yet, but on my V2 I have found you have to put some of the wicking in the juice channels to stop it from leaking. Not filled or anything, but after wetting the wick with the juice you intend to use, I take a paper clip that is straightened out and use it to drag some of the wet wick down into the channels and then pack it in there a little before screwing the chimney down. It is definitely not packed tightly though.

Even this way, it occaisionally leaks if you fill it and immediately put it to use. I have found that I just leave it upside down for a few minutes each time I fill it and it seems to stop this.

I have found that 28 gauge is the best for me, the larger gauges tend to short out on the chimney and the smaller ones are just to springy for me.

I love the flavor of this thing, I just hate the capacity, I am really hoping the V4 gets me through my workday without haveing to refill.
