So the last couple coil builds I've done have had an odd initial taste to them. Its not a burning taste, really, but has a strong coppery taste. I haven't changed routine at all. I am wrapping 32 ka-1 around 2mm silica wick doubled over. Comes in around 1.7 ohms. No shorts as checked on multimeter continuity mode and fired on mvp before going on k100 mechanical. This is a igo-l also for the record. Wicks are saturated and wicking adequately. Its not a dry hit. So... any ideas or insight from you fine folk? Didn't notice this taste even on my first coil built, or next 50. Just a recent thing.

Same silica from initial 20 feet or whatever I bought. Seems to mellow out after a "tank" (or rather a no flooding dripper tank). Just kinda off-putting-ish starting out.
If you've never torched silica before... give it a try. You may find that your juice tastes better right from the start, 'cause you've burned off all the impurities. If not... it's 1 minute out of your life you'll never get back. ;-)
