so I just got my rda in the mail and built me a coil using steam engine. was going for 0.5 but clocked in at 0.62-0.64 ( not sure tried screwing it down but scared that I will mess up the threads on the screw heads but it seems around their and pretty damn tight imo.

I had 2 - 3 questions.

1. is it okay for my coil to be very close to my posts but not touching them? I can see a tiny gap inbetween the posts and coil

2. is it okay if my coil isn't sitting directly over the air flow? my rda which is the mutation xs has 3 sized air holes and the coil is sitting slightly to the side of the biggest air hole. I literally had to bend it to the side to get it over the air hole. next time should I just leave as it instead of bending It to the side?

3. how do I wick t? I've watched quite a few video's but they are never really clear besides putting the 2 ends inside of the juice well and leaving the air flow uncovered. I see people putting the cotton all over the place otherwise like on the screws, inbetween the posts, etc..

so I have wicked it I thick I used way too much cotton though it was super tight to go into the coils and started to pull them apart so I just not sure if this is how it typically is or am I just using too much cotton? I did take out some of the cotton and it went in more smoothing without pulling apart the coils but it still felt tight going in

I forgot to mention one of my puff balls ( did a bow tie kind of wick ) is touching the inside of the walls to the atty case. is this fine or was it simply too much cotton

1) It's ok to have the coils close to the post but not touching.
2) The coil doesn't need to be directly over the air hole, but would probably slightly more efficient if it was.
3) You at least want both ends of the wick brushing the bottom of the well. Some vapers prefer more fluffy cotton around the base. Experiment to find what is best for you.
4) It is OK if the cotton touches the walls, but the bottom is necessary.
5) It should not be tight in the coils. You want just enough resistance to indicate the cotton is in contact with the entire circumference. Your cotton was too thick.

It is obvious that you were aware of some characteristics in your work you wanted to change. So do it. The materials are cheap enough to learn by experimenting & repeating the task.

This was your first coil job. I filled a bowl on the table with my rejected coils & wicks, but it is surprising how quickly we learn from our "mistakes".
