We have Kanger single coil tanks, and I have been managing to get at least a few extra uses out of each coil just by cleaning them. I have not gotten up the courage to try dry burning yet, but I did just order some organic cotton to try my hand at re-wicking. Anything to save a little money is good, although I must add that coming from cigalikes with cartomizers, we are finding that the clearos with replaceable heads are already saving us money.

Don't give up. It does get better as you get more comfortable and familiar with your gear and the vaping terminology. Anything I have learned has been from just cruising ECF and reading members' reviews and posts.

Look at this 20 second vido of dryburning a silica wick.

It's fun to watch; it's reassuring to watch your wick turn white and clean and see that your wick is not burning.

Just don't put too much power or you can burn out your coil; I dryburn mine at 3 watts.

You don't have to wait for the cotton before you try dryburning

Do you have to that that edyle? Might explain why I get a wick taste in some of my coils.

You dryburn to burn off the stuff that accumulates on the coil after using it a few days; burn it and blow off any ash that remains.

If you don't want to dryburn it, they you could just try cleaning/soaking in hot water but that doesn't work as well; I used to try soaking alone, and it does improve things.

My coil brush is a cheap 3mm Ø round fiber brush cut very short at the base, ~3mm. After dry burning the coil, I use that to gently dislodge any stubborn ash.

+1000 on all the advice to dry burn and/or rewick/rebuild the coils! I was VERY tentative at first to do any of this, so I've dropped about $50 on all kinds of my EVOD heads. WEEEELLLLLLLLLL, I watched the dry-burn video and read through edyle's link to rewicking with cotton. O M G - it's SOOOOOOO easy. Besides, I'm jumping on the "Cotton vapes better than silica" bandwagon. I feel like I'm getting cleaner flavor and a smoother vape than with the original coils. I'm *STILL* using almost all my original coils, and I've been vaping for 3 months. I do rotate through them regularly. One thing I did to early on was to drop coils in a splash of vodka (you can use everclear, but I get really stupid when I drink everclear - not so stupid when drinking vodka ;)) I hadn't even started dry-burning, but I felt like I was at least flushing out some of the old flavors (I like sweeter and sometimes darker juices at 50/50)

Got gutsy only a few days ago, and it was the COOLEST thing to watch when I dry-burned my first coil. Just be VERY patient, and don't try to overdo. Simply pulse for a couple seconds at a time. Watch for the coil to get to a consistent red (which means you've finally burnt off the old goop). Don't go too far, as you could burn/melt some of the gaskets. GENTLY blow/brush off the crud. If you pulled the original silica, grab a cotton ball and pull of a wisp. Thread it through, but not too tightly. Cut the edges off (I just got myself a small pair of beard trimming scissors). Fluff and PRIME with new liquid before reloading into a filled tank.

DO NOT dryburn with a cotton wick....

Have fun!

I dryburn my coils by setting my vamo to 3 watts; that way I don't have to worry about burning out the coil if I hold the button down; the coil just goes red but not too hot.

One caution with dry burning is you don't want the coil legs getting too hot and scorching the rubber grommet where the coil legs contact to the metal.

I just use an old tooth brush
figure if it ruins the coil
then the coil was destine to fail soon...
(never wrecked one yet)

canned air is fabulous for Vaping !

LOL! Yes, I use an old toothbrush from time to time too, when it fits. However, I have a hard time getting one to fit inside a Kanger AeroT head.

I've been vaping for about 6 months now. I know a bit about vaping but I know there's a lot I still don't know. The setup I have is a Joytech evic battery with a kanger aero tank with a 2.0 ohm coil. The juice I vape is Fuzion Vapors Unicorn blood. The problem I'm having is the coil burns out within 2 to 3 days. I thought I'd try another tank so I bought a Nautilus aspire tank and had the same problem. I'm not sure if it the juice or maybe I'm vaping too hard. I really like the unicorn blood and would like to find a setup that will work with it. I'd appreciate any help I could get.

I find a comfortable Zone table on net. It shows the data for proper voltage and resistance so to make comfortable vaping.:p
