coil frustration - mini protank 3 and iclear x.1

Hey everyone. So I'm at a point where I am getting pretty fed up with my atomizers. I am currently going back and forth between my kanger mini protank 3 and and Innokin Iclear x.1. The kanger gives me the best flavor and hit however now that they have come out with the new "improved" coils, I'm pretty much over it. The new coils can't be cleaned and dry burned which can extend the life of a coil by a long time. Now my coils last me 2-3 days at best before they stop giving me good hits.

The same is true with the x.1. The coil lasts me 2-3 days before it stops hitting well. the x.1 also gives me a really airy hit. I have to plug at least 2 of the slits on the side with whatever is handy to get a decent draw.

So my point is these coils work great for one day and then after that it is all down hill. I have to start amping up the voltage and really drawing hard to get an even half way decent hit. With how much the coils cost it just isn't worth it anymore.

Does anyone else have a problem with these coils? I know that juices have a lot to do with it but I wouldn't say that mine are exceptionally think or anything. Without a way to clean and prolong the life of these coils I feel it is time to move on.

So are there any reliable tank systems out there where I can get more life out of the coils that someone can suggest?

Otherwise, it may be time to move on to the rebuildables. My roommate and another friend have an awesome one that some guy in Greece makes that I may check out. You can fill it from the top without having to do any unscrewing. So any suggestions on rebuildables would be appreciated also.

BTW, I mainly use the iTaste VV and occasionally regular egos when I'm charging the VV. I like the VV but the battery drains a bit too quickly and the short circuit/atomizer protection is always kicking in which is super annoying.

Anyways, just looking for feedback and suggestions. Sorry for the longish post.

I've tried this method but with isopropyl alcohol (I don't drink so I don't keep vodka around) with the kanger coils but haven't had any luck. They seem to be in the same condition as before. the dry burn hasn't seemed to do anything either. Unless isopropyl isn't the way to go but I would think it has the same effect as vodka. I'll give it another shot though. I've got some coils that just came out of the alcohol now and are drying so we'll see.

Welcome to ECF!

You do have some options. You can step back to the Protank 2 series with airflow controllers for cheap single coils that you can clean and possibly rebuild yourself, or you could step forward to using BVC coils in Aspire clearomizers which seem to last much longer.

If you've been vaping for a while, maybe it IS time for you to step further forward into rebuildables. Most people who do are extremely satisfied with both themselves and their coils, and will take time out of your day and their day to tell you they are. Seems like it must be worth the effort if you can. Shortly someone with more knowledge on it will step up and tell you what to look for!

How many ml of juice do you go through in a day? What juice are you using, and is it clear/slightly tinted, or dark/opaque?

Personally I get about 10-15ml through my Kanger 4-hole coils on clear juice at 50/50. Rebuilding them with cotton wicks and 28ga vertical coils doubles that, and helps the flavor and vapor production.

Still, they dont hold a candle to my rebuildable stuff, and mostly get relegated to driving/walking around duty. It sounds like your reaching the point where your needs are outrunning the basic equipment, which is what spurred the whole rebuildables industry to begin with, so you're not alone.
