I have a new istick 30w that I use with a smok micro adc2. I've used it with a new 2 ohm coil at 8 watts and is great. I changed to a used coil I had cleaned and things got weird. It's a 2 ohm coil and the istick is reading it at 4.9! At 8 watts the throat hit was too much so I went down to 6 watts. According to the manual the istick doesn't even fire to 4.9 ohms. So let's see what you got?

Your old coil reached the end of its life. Kanger coils go up before they blow, too.

There is the possibility of cleaning coils, but it doesn't always turn out the way we want it to. I have done a couple of different coils and found that each coil had to have a different way of cleaning. Even then, it didn't always work.
I was glad when I switched to rebuildables. Solved the proiblem cheaply.

So I changed to a new coil and did a quick autopsy of the head. Found one of the 2 coils had a leg broke off. I'm still curious why the istick fired if it was reading a 4.9 ohm resistance?
Their site says that it will fire from .5-5 ohm so it was within its resistance range.
Lets put it this way....if you build 2 2ohm coils and install them...you'll get 1 ohm. Two (same ohm) coils cut resistance in half. A broken leg will account for what you're seeing.
