Coil Ohm's. Whats the differance and between them???? Help!!!

I cannot seem to locate this topic.
I know single coils are offered in 1.8, 2.0, 2.2 and 2.5.
What are the benefits/drawbacks between using one particular Ohm coil over the other?
It it strictly dependent on the battery/mod you use? Vapor production? Battery life????
I'm confused. Can anyone shed some light on this for me???

Vapor production is based on how much power (Watts) you get at the coil....More power, more vapor, more flavor, (unless you over do it and then stuff tastes burnt).

Watts is calculated by the following formula....Voltage* Voltage/Ohms

With a standard fixed voltage battery (like an eGo-T) the only way you can increase power, is to lower the resistance of the coil. Thus if you want to coax more flavor out of your juice, you choose a lower resistance on the coil.

If you have a variable voltage battery, you can adjust voltage up or down to taste, so coil resistance is not a big deal.

What coil someone uses is a matter of preference. However, typically a higher ohm coil will use thicker wire, and theoretically last a bit longer. If you have a variable voltage battery, you can compensate for the increased coil resistance by upping the voltage.

If you don't have a variable voltage battery and your battery only puts out a set voltage, then a higher ohm coil will result in a lower temperature vape with less vapor production and flavor.

Hope this helps.

With a mechanical/unregulated mod, it comes down to battery life+heat and performance. Lower resistances create more current.. which in turn creates more heat.. and lowers battery life.

With boost mods/variable voltage and wattage apvs, it really comes down to preference. The lower resistances will produce more heat. A higher resistance will require a higher voltage to get the same power/wattage levels. A battery has a voltage of 4.2volts.. and regulated mods need a new battery at 3.3volts. I typically use 3ohm cartomizers on 6+volt mods..I need 5.2volts to stay at my average 9watt level with them. Since the battery can only produce 4.2volts fully charged (with a 100% efficient circuit.. which doesn't exist), the boost regulator pulls more current from the battery to produce this voltage.

What battery are you using, so we can help?

Edit.. should've refreshed before post..popus beat me.:)

Basically, electricity is the movement of electrons across a wire. The electricity comes from the battery and travels to the coil. How many electrons enter the coil depends upon the coils "resistance", or ohm rating.

Think of the ohm rating as a door. Low resistance (LR) means its a big wide door. There's very little resistance for the electrons to get through the door so a lot more electrons get to heat the coil. It burns quicker and hotter. More electricity (amps) from the battery gets used up.

Standard (SR) or high (HR) resistance means its a smaller narrow door. There's more resistance for the electrons to get through the door, so less electrons get to heat the coil. It burns slower and not so hot. Less electricity (amps) from the battery gets used up.

In effect, LR gives a warmer vape and more vapor. SR makes a cooler vape and less vapor. Flavor is dependent upon the individual e-liquid's flavor; some flavors are more pronounced at lower voltage and some with higher voltage.

Typically, LR coils are used with fixed voltage devices such as a mechanical mod or single voltage cigalike or eGo battery.

SR or HR coils are used with regulated (variable voltage/variable wattage) batteries.

Does that help?

Thank you all, it has helped my understanding.
I also had the joy of taking draw today on an 1.8 (ohm ed out at 2.1!! You think QC could be a little better) popped and I got the most god awful burnt lung hit of my vaping life!!!!!! I had the feeling of sucking on the tail pipe of a 57 Chevy at 4000 rpm's and thought I was going to cough myself into the county!!!!! .......!!!!!!
It happened using my new Vamo 5!!!! That thing must be a beast!!!!!!
