Hello everyone. I have a quick question though probably silly. Right now I use an aspire atlantis 2 with .4 Triton coils or .5 atlantis coils depending on how I'm feeling. Both are used at 40 watts. Now I want to pick up a Griffin rta so I can stop buying coils but still have a tank system. I'm currently on the fence about which one to get and here's why..

If I ran a dual 1.0 setup to get .5 would that use close to the same amount of battery and juice consumption as a single .5? A little more battery and juice is ok but not a huge increase. If not I would just get the larger Griffin tank that can be used in single coil mode or if you have any ideas on how I could achieve the same vaping experience as a .5 coil at 40 watts. Thoughts?

You will burn more juice and battery in a dual-coil setup than in a single, all things considered. Why do you want a dual-coil specifically, especially if you're just starting building your own coils?

Why not look into getting a single-coil RTA like an SXK Wine or a Kayfun v3+ or similar. I just had delivered an SXK Wine this morning, and I must say that I'm enjoying it *immensely* - real easy to build on, and the flavour and vape is fantastic on it. The Wine (and the KF3+ clone) can be had for around USD$12 as well.

I'm going to buy pre built coils which are still far cheaper than the atomizers for the atlantis. The reason I wouldn't go for what you suggested is I'm trying to mimick the experience I have with my atlantis almost the way down to the airflow, which is very important to me. That's why I've chosen the Griffin. Looks like you answered my question though. I'll probably pick up the 25mm version of the Griffin as it supports single coil builds. Thank you.

Be careful though, as nearly all dual-coil RTAs that offer single-coil functionality (through blocking one set of airholes and/or using a coil baffle etc) often don't function all that well in single-coil mode, which is why I suggested that especially at USD$12 or so, it might be well worth it for you to also invest in a *dedicated* single-coil RTA.

You will Rip through a LOT more Juice and battery life.

Try a single coil Atty like a Kayfun, Goblin Mini in single coil mode, SXK Nebula Wine, Bachelor, Serpent or Serpent Mini.

Forget about building .4 or .5 coils. Try building coils to different resistances.

Find the sweet spot for the Juice you use. I build to .8. I find my Juice tastes better, And i have better battery life

Also be aware if you buy prewrapped coils, they might very well turn out to have different resistance than advertised. I've seen a number of precoiled Claptons presented as 0.6 ohm turn out to be 0.2 when tested. If you are going the route of a rebuildable tank, you should consider making your own simple, round wires coils yourself. It's quite easy to do and you can use Steam Engine to calculate your coil wraps. If you have a small screwdriver or drill bit and some nail clippers, you have all you need to make a coil. With an RTA, making the coil usually the least of the effort. It's the wicking you have to practice to get right for your tank.

Welcome to ECF!

All things being equal qual coils atomize more e-liquid. This is true. And you will never guess where that e-liquid is going? It is going in you. It is not going to waste.

If you consume 10mg of nicotine in a single coil setup, and 10 mg of nicotine in a dual coil setup, all things being equal, you will have to draw on the single coil system almost twice as much.

If you want to maximize the effect of vaporized e-liquid, just hold it in your lungs for a second instead of blowing it out right away.
