Several if not all of the coil wrap calculators will give the required number of wraps as rounded to full wraps, say 6, or 7/6 half wraps. What does 7/6 mean? How does that make sense?

Why not just say 6-1/2 wraps? That makes perfect sense.

Curiously, if you add 7+6 you get 13. Half of that is 6-1/2. Why make it complicated when it could be simple?

If you count wraps.

Left highlight: Full wraps on top of the coil are 7.
Right highlight: Full wraps between the legs are 6.

HTH: I understand. 7/6 = 7 on top/6 between the legs. Thanks for the explanation. I guess that is the convention that people use.

But as I'm wrapping wire around the tool, its still easier to count six full wraps and then go another 1/2 to get the legs on the same side.
