I am moving along learning things. So I cleaned my coils and dry burned them. Put new flavor wicks in and life was good. But dear lord they smell bad. So bad that it is vaping through. How do I get rid of this smell? Right now I have them soaking in vodka hoping it would diminish the smell but so far no good.

What sort of smell is it?

You don't say what atty... I'm guessing some sort of Kanger'esque BCC or glassomizer. When you dry burn a coil, there's nothing left on it that can smell, you've burned it off... and a quick rinse with water will wash away any residue ash. What ever it is you're smelling... isn't coming from the coil itself.

Now... if you've left the coil wicks in place an replaced only flavor wicks... those could smell. Remove the coil wicks, do another dry burn, and fit all new wicks - cotton or silica.

It is a burnt smell. I am not using them yet. I just smelled them cause the first one I did the other day had that smell but I did not notice it til I tried to use it.
If you're not removing the coil wicks, then the stock (I assume the original silica) wicks will have burned on juice residue. The only way to remove it is to remove the wicks (and to be honest, I don't know why anyone would go to the trouble) and really burn them with a torch to remove all residue.
I've never torched Kanger wicks, so I don't know how much heat they'll take... I don't use BCCs anymore, but when I did, I just replaced all the wicks with cotton or better quality silica.

Sounds as though your coils still have residue.

I'm c&p'ing this from an ol' post. It's for top wick clearos, but I think it should work for others:

My cleaning method for the StarDust type clearos (VNs should be easier):

Remove mouth piece/drip tip.
Remove silicone cap and tube with tweezers/needle nose pliers. You will now be able to see your coil.
Flush and rinse with water until the clearo has no remaining joose.
Shake out water and dry the exterior, including the connection end.
Pulse dry burn until you see (1) individual red coil wraps with (2) no 'smoke' or (3) sizzling.
Let head cool.
Replace cap/tube.
Fill with joose.
Replace MP/DT.
Let sit for a few minutes to soak the wick.
Vape your face off!

Be cautious when dry burning. You can burn out the coil if you leave the power on too long. Remember to pulse on, then off for 3-4 seconds each.

Hope this helps ya'll.

Please do note the (1) / (2) / (3) as that's the critical criteria for a clean coil! Good luck!!!
