Long story short...

I've been vaping for about a month. Before that I smoked about a pack a day for 15 years or so. Almost immediately went off analogs after starting to vape. I would get bronchitis once a year when I smoked analogs. After quitting analogs (and started vaping) I got bronchitis almost immediately. Cleared it up with antibiotics. Bout 2 weeks later sore throat and turned out to Be strep. Cleared that up with more antibiotics. Now a week or so later and throat getting sore again. Does this sound like a possible reaction to pg? If not any ideas? I LOVE not smoking analogs and want to continue to vape but this isn't working out right now. Also, I bought some vg juice and it isn't for me. Is there anything I can substitute for pg and vg? Or is it 1 or the other?

We probably don't clean our carts/mouthpieces as often as we should - I know I don't - so if thats you too, you may well have picked up some more lovely strep, or you might be starting a cold. If it was an allergic reaction I'd EXPECT it to be more constant, not months apart tbh. Obviously no-one here can diagnose you over the Net, we can only guess.

For me it has been my sensitivity to PG that has bothered me and using as much VG as possible really helps, but it's also the nicotine that bothers me even more. As my throat continues to "heal" itself from all the years of smoking it is becoming more sensitive to the nicotine so reducing your nicotine level may help as well.

And of course using new or boiled PV items would eliminate the possibility of contracting any new sickness from the old.

I guess my question is whether or not this type of reaction is a typical reaction to my body not liking pg ? It was only about a week since strep. Throat is starting again (almost seems like that the antibiotics wore off). This is very annoying as I was extremely happy to be off analogs. But I can't keep getting infections like this. Arrrgghhh!!!!

if they actually did tests and diagnosed you with bronchitis and strep then it's a coincidence......an allergy is not going to create the viruses they found in your body.......

That is true. But irritation and inflammation from a sensitivity can lower a person's immune system. This is why children with subtle food allergies get sick lot. Although on the other hand some think that the "detox" from going off analogs can do the same thing so who knows. Hard to say.

And if your immune system is worn down, you are more susceptible to the viruses. Take the above advice and completely sanitize your equipment. Quitting smokes leaves us vulnerable for awhile until our system cleans itself out.

this is true. due to stress and various other factors, i'm workin on my 2nd cold since i got my pv in very late january. i've had a sore throat all most the whole time, but it's the itchy scratchy sore throat.

did you just recently stop analogs? Your body will go through hell to clean up after.

But I would try VG like some are suggesting...
Im curious, i have been off analogs for 8 days now. havent touched a one since i got my 501 8 days ago. i was a pack and a half a day smoker. i havent felt any withdraw symtoms from analogs. i do have a scratchy throat but isnt that from being new to vaping? i mean shouldnt i have seen some withdraw symtoms by now?

well thats good if your not suffering withdrawls, looks like you are clearly getting your nic intake from the vape. Scrathy throat could be new to vape, and also your throat clearing out the tar from anologs. give it another week. I guess a quick test would be to try straight VG and see if you still get scratchy throat.

I got the flu a week after I stopped. I think my body went all out of whack, which will bring your imune system down...I remember having a soar throat too...and I wasnt vaping at that time.

Have you spoken to your doctor about this situation and explained that you have quit smoking and are now vaping?

Have not spoken to doc. He wouldn't have the first clue about vaping. That I know. I think I'm gonna try switching to vg for a while. I have heard that pg can dry out the throat. The reason I stopped vg was that it seemed to have much less flavor. Would it be ok to add some flavoring to a vg liquid and maybe a little everclear to make it more flavorfull and add a bit of throat hit? And would vg dry out the throat the same as pg?

Stu, I wish I would have read your post before I posted mine...lol. I too have started vaping full time on Jan 5th, and have had strep throat 3 times. My throat is sore and raw most of the time, and I can tell it's coming back already. I've used antibiotics 3 times to clear it up!

I'm wondering (since I can't remember), how to tell the difference between PG and VG by looking at the liquid. I thought when ordering that all liquids were the same and didn't know about PG and VG. So some of them are pinkish and some are yellow. I would like to know the difference so I can try strictly VG for awhile and see if this clears up!

I wanted to wait a bit to respond to your post until after i got rid of the strep. It seems to be the PG liquid for me. every time i use it i got a sore throat. I ordered some vg liquid and seem to have no problems with it. good luck. TRY THE BLUE FOAM MOD.
