Good question on the cold weather. Any skiers/snowmobilers out there w/advice? I am planning on loading cartomizers for the slopes. Any drop off in battery life if and when the batteries get cold. Will keep Carts and batts in inside pocket but I am wonder how performance is at -10 to -15F. Batteries are 650 & 900mah eGo's with LR and CE2 carts. Thanks

I have definitely noticed that when we have hot weather, the vapor is less.

I listened to some vaping experts today who were comparing the experience to the nicotrol inhaler.
They said that it was the fact that the vapor is heated that causes the vapor.
And the reason you get no vapor from an inhalor is because it isn't heated.

So this all starts to add up, because if the vapor is warm it will condense better and hold more water molecules.
And if the temperature contrast between the warm vapor and colder temperatures outside is greater, then even more vapor.

Or I could be full of crap.
:)

But one thing I do know for certain, when I vape in my car with the A/C on I get good clouds.
And if I step outside into the heat, not so much.

Not full of crap, dead on in fact. A larger temperature gradient will produce more vapor. In cooler (cold) air you will have a much denser cloud.

Come on Banjo some of us live for Winter. The Battery life in cold is my concern. at max you can spend 8 hours on the slopes, Batty will be in inside pocket i am going to fly w/ 3 eGo 900 mah's. Even if cold cut useful life by 50% I would still have enough battery life to get me through. Since the frezing point of a solution w/60% PG is -55F I think Skiing and vaping will be awesome

My ski days are in the past. But I did notice when I used my ecig outside last winter, that it helps to hold it in your hand and warm it up a bit before you use it. No other problems. There was lots of vapor, but what's vapor and what's just your own breath in the cold? Gotta love these Wisconsin winters!

Wisconsin winters... If your not into them, you dont gotta love them, just tolerate them for a couple long months :) We'll have to come up with battery sock or something, kind of like the battery blankets we put on car batteries. We could always take a 9v battery, and make some sort of heater to put around it. Hmmm, ideas. As far as cold/warm weather and vapor, it would be just like hot humid summers. The warmer the air, the more liquid it holds and just the reverse in winter.

Firehorse - I LOVE Wyoming and I like the negative numbers when I am at the "Hole" it makes the powder that much softer and dryer. BTW there is a shrine in my man cave to Jackson and the Avatar is a shot looking over the edge of Corbrt's Couloir right before diving in. Keep that PV warm Fire and enjoy the cool fall weather

I think that one of the problems you'll face is shorter battery life, unless you can devise a way to keep your batteries warm. Cold weather is hard on batteries. Just happy that I'm living in California, so that I don't have to deal with the cold winters that you have in Wisconsin.

That's so weird though... I always thought that to keep batteries 'fresh' or whatever, you're supposed to keep them in the fridge. Not that I ever did that, but if that's true I would think they'd last even longer in cold weather.

I totally don't know what I'm talking about BTW.

So, anyway, what'll happen to the juice at below freezing temps?

VG freezes around -36F and 60% PG is around -55F. -30f is my limit on the slopes but at that temp I bet the juice gets pretty thick.

You're probably not going to believe this but I really don't like living here! I'm originally from New England (MA and NH) then I moved to California for about 12 years before ending up here in Wyoming. I met my hubby in Cali and we were here in WY visiting his family during the 9/11 attacks and were stranded here longer than we expected. Hubby's job wasn't that secure in Cali and our boys needed extra help with their development and we couldn't get that help in Cali so we decided to move here. I'm very much past the point of being ready to move back to Cali but it's just not possible at this time. I'm a beach gal and I miss the ocean so much!!!

Neither here nor there
While vaping in my car during a cold snap, it seems the vapor is attracted to my windshield and creates a foggy film. Just something to consider. My PV and juice are usually kept in my pocket, and that is apparently warm enough...I have not noticed a decrease in function but the juice does get thick.

I'd look for a long tube type sock slip-on that still allows air to enter the atomizer. In the South, we use foam cold cups to keep canned drinks cool in the summer. We don't worry about anything freezing most of the winter. Something like the finger from a driving glove cut off and used for insulation might help the atomizer to reach temperature and keep the juice from getting viscous.
