It finally happened to me. I was vaping away and decided to check my batt's voltage. Unscrewed the atomizer from my Grand and replaced it with my volt meter. Hit the button and nothing happened. Hit it again, and still nothing. I thought maybe my batt was not seated so I slid open the door and saw a very slight white wisp of smoke, then I noticed the spring was collapsed and the battery was not making contact. I measured the battery with my multimeter and it checked out at 3.7ish volts.
Now I'm sure the atty is fine cause I had just vaped it with no problem. I'm almost certain it was the volt meter that I screwed in that caused the short, and hence I am afraid to try it on any of my other mods. I have replacement springs, but is there anything else I should do before putting this one back in service? Should I chuck my volt meter? Its one of those generic white plastic jobs that has a 510 connector and a 3 digit display. Think I got it from madvapes. Been using it for several months now without a problem.
