Good question... oxidation or rust. Well, definitely with mandrels (I read you were a lampworker too Sue, from your notes) the 316L rusts after repeated heating and cooling, but it's much better about it than other SS, and you can just sand most of the rust off, it's not usually pitting. But if it just sits without heating, then it's probably oxidation. I see what you mean. I would have it on the porch a lot, that's where I torch... hrm.

I should be getting my black extended Provari 18360-sized in the mail tomorrow, so I'll see how the paint is on that then decide. That's the one I'll probably keep on the porch, so I'll have a painted one already. But the humidity here is always like that, so it would be subject to a lot of humidity even just taking it out with me. I think the zombie one is sooooo neat looking especially with the unique cap, but I REALLY like the chrome look too and I just can't decide...

Baditude, do you know what the difference between Noaloxx and WD-40 are? WD-40 prevents rust too (and I conveniently have that already).

I saw WD40 and dropped my phone.

I just posted this in another thread but here's a pic of the black, polished SS and red. The red doesn't look quite this bright in person but it's definitely not dark like a brick red. The red one just fell down two flight of steps and landed on a slate floor (before I took this pic). It got one little ding in the coating that you can't even see unless you're really inspecting it.

So, you're already planning your second ProVari before getting your first one? I'm sure you'll be fine with a painted one. I haven't heard anyone mention anything about rust before.

The first Provari I managed to snag in the 'For Sale' section here, it's a black extended 18360 V 2.0, and I'm really excited to get it!! But I really love the look of the mini tube, and with all you guys going on and on about it, I decided I wanted a mini too. I am going to wait til I get the black one to see what the finish is, but I'm very sure I'll like it.

I just cannot decide what color to get it in!! I like stainless too... the mini doesn't come in the polished, only the full size, and I don't think I want 2 full sized ones (plus, I really love the teardrop pattern on the mini). I can polish it myself I think, I have a Cabmate. I was all decided on the stainless til I started thinking about the Zombie. It's not my favorite color, but it's so unique too. Gaaah... I can't decide! LOL!

I use WD40 all the time (although now in a well ventilated area - I learned that lesson the hard way), just not to anoint the Blessed One. Would one of the Wise Men have brought WD40 to Bethlehem? I think not.

I've been thinking that I don't want a green one... I don't have anything in green anyway, so maybe I'll get the satin mini and polish it myself, since the chrome isn't available in mini atm. Plus, I realized what a fondness I had for black and white, and how monochrome my world actually is... LOL!

Here's my 1 month vaping collection so far (I found a use for the carto tanks I made that were too big.... Ego holders!!):

My second satin mini should be "home" tomorrow, just LOVE the design. I saw a pic of what used to be a black mini that the owner wanted to polish. He gave up on trying to polish the tear drops so it turned out polished with black tear drops & drop-dead gorgeous!

It was a pic that someone sent me of one they bought used. The black was taken off everything except the teardrops, really pretty.
