Well, they may be gone but the sentiment that put them there has not been explained........and if I doth prtest too much I shall be banished to the other forums, sometimes I wonder if that wouldn't be such a bad thing, I hate not speaking my conscience because this is a 'private' forum........
I was wondering if they were gone or the setting to block them was finally working--but since they still seem to show up in the first post on a page I don't think it has anything to do with user preferences...
Sometimes I wonder if the board has just gotten too large and the chose path is to try to drive people away en masse in order to smallify it a bit...

Well, they helped the modders form theeir own forum, the nonconformists have VF, the tired of ECF has N-V, Brits have UK vapers, there are 2 aussie forums, vapersplace, lavacorps has IVC........there are choices for me...........

Yep. Can say more? Not sure. I already feel like I'm pushing my luck by discussing something that may be construed as possibly casting ECF in a bad light.

I can complain to my wife without worrying about a divorce. I can argue with my parents without worrying about being disowned. I can even female dog of breeding age about stuff at work without worrying about getting fired. But I'm not even sure what I can talk about here anymore without risking purgatory or the moving of on...
Home is some place you know you can always go back to--but every time I log in here I wonder if I'll have some kind of warning or infraction notice in my PM's, even if I didn't post anything on my last visit

I usually frequent IVC and the Aussie forum you introduced me too (thanks
) because there is no drama, it is very laid back.Really the only reason I enjoy being here is my PIF friends and the Copper Creek thread. I definitely don't want to leave but things are getting crazy over here
Oh, you know me, I was ripping the forum for inflicting that stupid social crap on us without actually asking the forum if it was needed, or at minimum wanted. When I said i thought an apology from the person who thought this was a good idea, here was a moderator's response in the open forum to me.......
Knowing this mod like I do I backed off, he'd ban me even though we should be compatriots as we live a few miles from each other on the plains but he's made it clear I'm not someone he wants to know -- but he's tripping in some serious stuff if he thinks he'll ever get from me!!!
Yesterday there was a forum update, at like 1am. It added social media (e.g., twitter, fb) like buttons to every post, and in pm (tho that would not have done much), really slowed the forum down.
A thread was started to complain, huge gnashing of teeth, wailing.
About 14 hours later at least most of the gubbage was removed.

Guess I was lucky I missed all that yesterday. It doesn't show up on my iPhone. I can understand everyone getting upset but sometimes everyone assumes because your a mod you know what's going on. My guess is whoever does ecf code has more than 1 customer and just tweaks whatever they use for other forums to suit here. Other forums thrive on that crap. Idk why. Isn't that what the forum is for - so you don't need fb or twitter - you just go to the forum and see for yourself.
Seems that social media stuff is taking over everywhere. Gives me an uneasy Orwellian vibe. I do FB mostly to keep in touch with real friends. I reject most requests I get. Just because I passed you in the hallway at high school 30 years ago doesn't make us friends. Know what I mean?
Twitter is just freaky. I don't need tweets telling me what someone is doing at that exact moment. If I cared I'd call them.

Maybe we're just both old fuddy-duddies and resistant to change -- but I don't want to be any more social than I already am and its presumptuous to think I want to share my business without asking me, I think that's a reasonable assumption tbh......
There is just a general darkening of the mood across the board. People seem to be getting binned and moved along more arbitrarily recently and some rather innocuous questions have been known to engender relatively rabid responses. I understand that the admin has to deal with a lot of crap that is just, well, crap--but there seems to be more and more "nip it in the bud by salting the earth" going on lately. I don't envy the job of any of the mods or admin, I've done both jobs myself, but there is a very ominous tone descending over the board. People are joining other forums because they are getting tired of being afraid to post on ECF--and that says a lot to me.
PIF, being a social group, has a bit more leeway since the PIF mods are responsible for moderation here to free up the ECF mods for policing the general areas--but based on what I've seen in some of the other places (and I tend to not go into the "general" threads) I am taking a chance on being binned or banned by making this post. I don't beleive I will be, but that has a lot to do with being in the PIF section. I would not post this in a general thread.
Oh and btw I'm not resistant to change - why just last week I let Jazz throw away some of my leisure suits and bell bottom jeans
