It's tragic what happened :( but guns don't kill people anymore than pencils cause spelling errors. It's the wackos on the trigger. There are plenty of responsible gun owners that shouldn't be judged based on the idiots. I keep my guns locked up at all times (except the one I carry) and keep the ammo separately and even bought trigger locks when I started dating Jazz. To judge us all based on a few wackos is like judging all muslims based on Osama or all Germans based on Hitler. Sorry to be controversial - Just my 2 cents.

On a lighter note - its Friday

OH, I understand that, I really do -- but then lets have registration, background checks, a complete ban on all automatic weaponry, and the destruction of guns that are seized by the police instead of their resale -- please tell me why those are bad things? Let's be honest all you conspiracy freaks out there, the government knows exactly what you're doing, don't kid yourself that you have a private life and conversations anymore.......the only thing they don't seem to know is how and why nutsos keep getting those infernal machines of death. I love my shotguns, I used to hunt, and I have dropped a few deer but I didn't try to put 12 slugs into them in 5 seconds.......

Totally agree John. Ok I own an Ar15 and it's fun. But why on earth does anyone need a full auto? Or a 100 round clip? Why don't all gun owners use trigger locks that can't be removed without damaging the weapon to render them useless if stolen? All guns should be kept under lock and key. I do carry for personal defense - it's the nature of my work sometimes to be in bad environments. As for home defense - I can remove my trigger lock in 10 seconds if need arises. I can't believe how careless people can be especially when they have children. Some people shouldn't be allowed to have guns - or children.

The biggest problem with this idea is "who would administer the test?"

After all, look at all the people licensed to drive, the effectiveness of the "War on Drugs" and how well guns are regulated to keep them out of the hands of criminals and psychos without discriminating against responsible owners...

In theory I agree on some sort of test for parents (look at how difficult it is to adopt :glare:), but the only 'regulatory agencies' seem to need a bit of intelligence control themselves...

I couldn't have said it better myself!!!

Go to wally world after midnight so see the true ones.....:blink::blink::rolleyes:

Two things:

1) According to that criteria, being there to observe would include you in the sample ;)

2) Those are the ones that could either drive, walk or manage to call a cab without dialing 911 first. The true ones can't make it to Walmart on their own. Believe me, I've met a few...
