First of all, what is "blind squonking" and how does it relate to the REO grand and the RM2?

If I understand correctly, everything has to be airtight for squonking to work because it depends on the increased pressure from squeezing to push the juice up a tube?

Why do some people count 1-3 when squonking? Does the wick need to be soaked for 3 seconds to be saturated?

thx

Blind squonking is a term usually associated with using cartomizers/atomizers, but can be used with the rm2 also. Referring to atomizers/cartomizers, it is the act of squonking and drawing until you feel some resistance, then stopping the squonking. Otherwise, most people would pull off the drip tip, and squonk till they see juice. Not something you want to do while driving/walking or any activity that requires you to pay attention. Blind squonking needed to be learned so you weren't flooding atomizers/cartomizers. Blind squonking isn't need with the rm2 because you just squonk for 3-5 seconds (depending on how full your juice bottle is) to saturate your wick. That is where counting seconds come in with squonking a rm2, thus in essence, "blind squonking".

Nothing needs to be airtight. When screwing your bottle on to the cap, it should be snug, but not so tight that you may deform the o-ring. If you tighten the bottle too much, juice won't be sucked back into the bottle after squonking. If juice doesn't flow back into the bottle after squonking your rm2, it may leak out of the air hole if you lay your REO down, or put it in your pocket.

I started with cartos when I first got my Reo, and I had a lot of problems until I figured out what the blind squonking meant. This is the first description which explains why it's called "blind" - I couldn't figure that out from prior descriptions.

Regarding the RM2 and the bottle snugness, I can definitely agree with if it's too tight juice doesn't flow back down (and if it's too loose, juice won't flow up when you squonk). I still have issues with the bottle snugness from time to time (but I'm getting better at realizing it's happening before I either have juice leak out or get a dry hit) :)

This is blind squonking with an RM2 to me:
Turn your Reo 180 degrees so the air hole is pointing down. Take a draw on it without firing. IF you hear a slight gurgle sound that means the juice in your atty is up to the air hole and theres no need to squonk. THere is plenty of juice in there. If you don't hear a gurgle squeeze the bottle while drawing on the drip tip, but not firing, until you hear the gurgle then vape away. This works well for me. This is called blind squonking. I can pick up the Reo after its been sitting and I'll know whether to squonk or not if I use this method. I don't use this method all the time but if there's a question in my mind whether to squonk or not, I do this. This works for some Reonauts but like everything in Reoville everyone finds their own method.

with the shorty cartos, I would squonk (put pressure on the bottle) while sucking on the drip tip until I heard the gurgle, let go of the bottle and gave another little suck to bring any remaining into the carto, and vaped away. frequently, juice in mouth would occur if I sucked too hard. LOL

with the RM2 on the Grand, I had to do the bottle mod and in the beginning took the tip off so I could see how long the squonk had to be- I give a good 3-5 count, depending on juice level in the bottle. and you can hear the juice getting sucked back into the bottle and see an air bubble come from the bottle tube.

I do a lot better with 3mL bottles, and RM2 squonking on the 2.1 and 18490 Woodvil has been a piece of cake for me.

haven't had much luck with LT's method myself..

you'll get it.. takes some practice, takes some dry hits.. but you'll get it!!

I have noticed when you squonk and watch through the drip tip the first 1-2 seconds you see juice bubbles ,then you see juice start flooding into the rm2(what im using) hold another 2 seconds and release done! has worked all the way down to 1/4 full bottle. take a short puff without hitting the firing button to prime the wick and then vape away! I squonk every 2 hits now because burnt cotton wicks taste nasty! my air hole is even with the top of the posts and I cant imagine getting juice to drip out of it

Brilliant! Just tried it, and it works for me. Sometimes I'm not paying attention (and I'm still learning). This is a great trick for when you're unsure, lighting isn't great, and you don't want to pull of the drip tip to take a look. THIS should be dubbed the RM2 "blind squonk."

To the OP, I never messed with cartos on the Reo, so I don't have a frame of reference other than other Reonauts tales. But a month and a half into dedicated Reo vaping, I can say it's REALLY not hard to figure out the art of squonking. Yeah, a dry hit every now and then (like one or a two a day, TOPS) at the very beginning, or the occasional "almost" flood (but that can be burned off, or at worst, I've sopped it up with a wad of paper or q-tip down the drip tip hole).

But really, even the learning curve of the Reo/RM2 was NOTHING compared to the constant small, but annoying, issues I continually had with other systems. I love hearing your questions AHEAD of you purchase. As you can see, we're hear to help, and you surely will be 1000 times more prepared than I was once your precious Reo arrives. Excellent questions and thorough research, friend!

danpals, all of this will make so much more sense when you are actually holding the REO in your hands. Don't be too worried. It's really an easy, convenient PV system and it will fall into place once you start using it. There's a little learning curve, but it's not hard. I can't wait to hear how you like it.
