The Moberly Area Community College conducted a tobacco Free campus survey at some point in the past couple months.

Approximately 850 students participated. 56.6% were non-smokers, 38.9% had smoked a cigarette in the past 3 months, 6.2% has used smokeless in the past 3 months, and there was no option for e-cigarettes. 'Other' got 2.7%.

72.1% said students shouldn't be allowed to use "tobacco chew in the classroom." Categorizing smokeless tobacco as "chew" is a common tactic by antis to get an emotional reaction out of people about all smokeless tobacco products.

31.3% and 25.8% of students wanted a smoke-free campus or a ban that only permitted use in one's car. 42.9% did not want a smoke-free campus.

68.9% said that electronic cigarette should be permitted on campus.

Interesting that you bring up this story, because today's front page story in the Daily Illini (the newspaper for my school) was about students passing a referendum in support of a smoking ban campus-wide. As I was reading it this morning I wondered how the student body would feel about e-cigarettes. I've noticed that more and more students (smokers and non-smokers alike) are becoming much more aware of e-cigarettes and their advantages compared to traditional cigarettes. However, there was no mention of it in the article. I'll be following the story in the future and I'll get back to this thread!

Here's the article in case anyone is interested -
